Hi all,

I was wondering if we have any members who frequent this sub forum or blade forums in general living in NZ?

If theres anyone in the south island especially I would love to hear from you as Im always looking for people to hit the outdoors with for hunting, hiking and generally getting out there.

If I get a decent response I think a get together to share skills and show off gear would be awesome.

regards,

Stew

j williams, if you ever make a trip over here let me know, and I will do what I can to help you out

Uff da!

I left the South Island for the North Island the day you posted this. Rotten luck huh? Home now and getting snow tonight!

G'day Stewey

I live in the South Island, but I will be generally unavailable to help out. However there is a new NZ Bushcraft website you might like to check out if you haven't seen it already. Here's the link:

Best wishes from Nelson.... Stephen Coote.

cheers coote, that bushcraft site has some good info, and hello to you from burnham

I've been on this site for a while now, lots of great stuff even from those guys not in NZ.

Thanks to these forums I've bought a few knives and I've taken them into the NZ bush to play with them. This is near Taupo:

I am currently in Palmerston North.

I am an import. Moved here with the wife from Alaska as permanent residents and love it here. It is nice having the Ruahines and Tararuas in our backyard. We were just up in the mountains for the weekend.

I've hunted the ruahines and the tararuas extensivly over the years, really great country, Ive had some good times wondering those hills, glad your enjoying it

I was primarily up in the Ruahines scouting around for deer over the weekend. I found a couple of good spots based out of the Rangiwahia Hut on the west slopes of the range on the open tops. Met another hunter on our way up who had got one earlier in the day.

You have to be careful up there and generally prepared for anything. Weather can get pretty crazy in minutes.

that is true, the weather can change so quickly causing temperatures to drop or rise drastically, its harsh country if you dont know what your doing, good at this time of year tho

the problem with the huts is especially coming into and during the roar every man and his dog are out and about looking for trophies, the other thing is the place goes dead after a 1080 drop,

be careful hunting mate, you dont wana get shot by some wana be city slicker
