The Scorpion is an affordable alternative to the Sure-Fires,But,It has some drawbacks as far as i`m concerned.
A.The switch is nothing more than a over-size "ball point pen" switch.
B.Switch is made of plastic (I`ve gone through a few in one year`s use).
C.Rubber sleeve slip`s and is not "chemical resistant"..get some gasoline or other "chem`s" on it and It will swell & deteriorate, thus affecting Its use-(switching).
It does have some advantages.
A.Lamp availability..atleast in my area.
B.Cost,initial purchase and lamps(bulb vs lamp assembly...although the only Sure-Fire bulb I have toasted is the "low-beam" in a Sure-fire 9N recharchable._
C.Focusable beam..If that fits your requirements...I prefer SF`s "beam-shaper" no ring`s or dark spots.
Don`t get me wrong...I use a Scorpion daily and have modified an older one to power a led on "dead 123a`s"...MUCH better than SF`s "hurricane lamp"..yes I know the intended "marketing reason of this product..cheap batteries!!
Excuse me if I rant..Anyway, It`s a great light for the money.For comparison sake I have a SF 3P,E1,M3,9N..BTW,use the 9N and E1 everyday.
Just my 2cents,Bill
