This is for the 500, 501, 503, 505.

These are beautiful knives but the lockback spring is too heavy for my old hands to use them easily.

Any ideas on how to do this without removing the scales?

Thanks

PS to me these are most beautiful art objects especially the older ones with reddish micarta scales. Anybody else love them?

Mike, I have always liked the Duke and the other 500s are nice to... Sorry, that I can't help you with your back spring... The 500s that I have are all good... I think... I'm sure some one will come a long to help you out soon...

I have all of the 500 series and love them, but mine seem to be fine I have not noticed the spring being hard to push.

The Duke(500) is easily my favorite knife-great look-perfect size -easy to sharpen etc. I havent noticed them to be overly stiff though. I use a little drop of Hoppy gun oil for smooth function.

I like the 500 series as well, the early ones you mention are a great knife.I have not noticed any of mine having the problem you describe.DM
