Any way to loosen a Native III?

I just got a Spyderco Native III and it's hard to open one-handed. I can hear the blade rubbing against the handles even though it's lubed. Is there any way to loosen the blade pivot pin?

Thanks.

I've hear of hammering the pin a bit to move it out the other side a bit, but I wouldn't recommend it.

I've tried this with a cheap folder and it works, to loosen it, I tab a hammer lightly against it with the other side lying on a soft-hard surface, to tighten it, I hammer it with the other side against the concrete floor.

I would try to loosen the pivot screw a tad. Just a bump to the left, but not so much as to encourage side to side play. Put it through its paces over and over for a few days- it should get easier. I am sure Spyderco would make it right if it is a flaw.

I'd just use it, making sure it's nice and soaked with lube. If it's really THAT bad then I'd send it in, but it sounds like it's just a bit tight. Maybe the spring is extra strong. Is the detent nice and snappy? No side to side play?

Good luck, I spent a lot of time trying to loosen up mine and finally stopped using it in my edc rotation. I haven't used it for at least a couple of years and I just found it again and to my surprise the blade opens easier. I can't explain it, maybe it felt neglected and decided to stop playing hard to open. Now I prefer my S30V Native as it rides flatter in my pocket.
