i just recived a ps military and i cannot get the serration sharp but the pe section is shaving sharp but any way how do i go about removing them?

its not something i would want to myself do either.

there are some folks out there who will do it for you, but it isn't free. keep in mind you will be giving up the amount of blade the serrations cover. and since its a combo edge, you are either going to end up with a wierd recurve or a narrower blade by about 1/8" than when it started.

that wont bother me.

Is a krien regrind a good idea

also, the blade gets thicker as it moves toward the spine, so by removing the existing edge, you will have relocated the new edge further up the blade toward the spine.

the thicker the blade, the more work to sharpen, and typically the primary bevel will be more obtuse.

the para has a pretty thin blade, so this issue will be minimized, but exist nonetheless.

Well I don't know much about taking them off, but I can show you how to sharpen them. It's pretty hard to do without a wedge shape stone or rod. It's time consuming but try sharpening each serration by its self, watch the stone contact and take your time. I have a Harpy; I'll put some pics up of what I do to sharpen it tomorrow.

Best bet would be to pick yourself up one of these and learn how to sharpen the serrations. Grinding it down to remove the serrations would remove a lot of metal and leave you with a blade that's very thick behind the edge unless the whole blade was ground down, in which case you'd lose the lettering you like. Trading or selling might be problematic, as the CE is not terribly popular.

Just get them sharp and I bet you will like them

Here's how I do it :D

you can also try cutting them off with scissors.

But make sure you use the plastic kind with the blade tips rounded off. You don't want to slip and stab yourself with the scissors. Safety first.

Try sharpening each "tooth" separately. Start at the back and pull the blade toward you watching the contact with the stone. Just like sharpening a plain edge except you move the blade over the stone small portions at a time. For single beveled edges sometimes there is a bur hooked over the non beveled side. To fix this simply lay that side down on a flat stone and drag it away from you, like when stropping. One pass is usually enough but I always double check with my thumbnail to be sure.
