Any word on shipping dates for the Mini EU-17?

Last I heard it was going to be end of June, first of July.

what is the legal length yall allowed to carry up yonder in Canada

To be honest, I am not really sure. Folders are supposed to be under five inches long (blade) but I have no idea about fixed blades. Canada has pretty lax laws about knives in general so I don't think their would be a problem as long as it is not concealed. By lax I mean as long as it is JUST A KNIFE and does not have any other attachements. I wouldn't risk it though.

By attachements I mean:

Ring....Busse Assault Ring Fighter
Knucle Guards...Argonne Assault
Brass Knucles....Holy Tearer
etc.

Naturally, I would not carry a knife like this around with me on a regular basis due to age and other factors but I would use one as a nice carry knife if going for short hikes and such. I may look into one in the future.

Strangely, if you put a knife, even a SAK in your pocket it can be considered concealed but if you put it on your belt then is it can be considered "displaying a weapon". Just can't win.

the knife "laws",, are stupid here too.

I'm not really sure what is "legal" here as to what you are allowed to carry.

I carry a Benchmade model 5000 automatic with me at all times,,,I have been told that it was legal to carry them here in Alabama, but each city had their own ordanances regarding automatics (switchblades).. :grumpy:

but I remember going into a court house here and going through a metal detector,,had to lay out my keys, coin money, cause it kept setting off the detector. I was hesitant to give the officer my switchblade , thinking he would arrest me for having it, I didnt have any choice the second time he made me walk through the metal detector,,it sounded off ,,, I pulled it out and handed it to him, hell he didnt even know what it was  ,, he told me to take "my knife",, and put it in my truck.
so hopfully you have officers up there that are knife "ignorant" like some we have here, and wont pay much attention to what you carry.

Galaxy: On two different occasions while in Southeastern Guns in Trussville, I have asked law enforcement officers about what was the maximum folder length permitted by law in Alabama. One was a Jefferson County Sheriff's deputy and one was a Birmingham Police officer. In both cases they said that they did not know. Then the deputy said that he thought it was 5 inches for folders but wasn't sure. Both of them gave me essentially the same advice: carry whatever I wanted as long as I acted responsibily and didn't create any trouble.

In any case, my 3.9" Rat Trap should be legal in all jurisdictions. Since I bought the thing I can't carry anything else.

Speaking of inspection points, there was the time that I walked out of Family Court carrying a paper bag full of marijuana, after telling the two Jefferson County deputies both when I went in and when I left what I had, and them twice denying my request that they take the bag off my hands, but that is a long story.

MikeH: I asked the salesman over at Southeastern Guns when i bought my Benchmade from him about the "legality" of carrying my auto,, and he had told me that it was legal to sale them to anyone here in Alabama but you had to check with each city to find out if they allowed the carry of the automatics.

and like you said,,I cannot find a police officer that can give me an answer,,I have asked and I have a friend that has also asked several diffrent policemen,,,and didnt any of them know what was legal and what wasnt,, but did get told by some that it wasnt a big deal as long as you didnt commit a crime and have the knife on you, or use the knife to commit a crime,,so I dont know.

but I would like to hear the story sometime about you and that bag of marijuana :D

So would I!

Switchblades (autos and OTFs) are very ilegal in Canada. Also, no offense to the law enforcement community here but I must say that I have talked to many cops here in Ontario about knives and the only one that knew a thing was the officer that works in my high school. I asked him if it was legaly alright to carry my sak with me when I went about (not at school) and that was perfectly acceptable as long as I didn't do anything foolish with it. However, the Meaner Street I am looking at (as well as about five others) would be bordering on questionable. I have noticed that legality is often up to the officer whio is inspecting the knife. Also, the style of the blade greatly affetcs what is legal and what constitutes a weapon. I have noticed that (I don't carry any of these) black coated blades "(tactical"), satin finishes (to shiny), serrations ("mean looking", double edged (weaponish), and thumb studs (the ability to deploy quickly) are generally frowned on. The local LEOs are ignorant but not generally about knives. This is not really their fault since parts of Southern Ontario are having difficulty recruiting new cops so they tend to throw them on the streets without much training.

I'll tell the story in a different thread, since we have already badly hijacked this one.
