I'm sure some of you collect Zippos. Lets see your collections!

I stopped carrying a Zippo when I got my Bil-Lit.

I stopped carrying them when I got tired of them always running dry and making my pants stink. Many times I've looked lustily at store displays and regretted that they weren't functionally up to my standards, while I made due with those wonderfully functional and economical, but totally unappealling Bics. But now that I've learned about the butane inserts (and that they actually work and don't leak down anymore) I can't wait for the next time I see a good display of Zippos!

I like mine, but I don't use it that much anymore since I started collecting lighters. For lighter fuel powered ones, there are more interesting options out there like Thorens single claws and Beattie Jets. For butane powered lighters there are nicer options like IM Corona, that are higher quality, cleaner, and don't leak very much.

What does a Bil-Lit have over a Zippo?

Totally CNC machined from one billet of solid brass. Mine weighs half a pound is ALWAYS on my belt.

I'm a fan, nothing like the "ping" of a real brass, standard size zippo. I have about 4 around here now, have given many of them away. I like the vargas girl/pinup ones from years ago. they really do suck in some regards, leave it a few days it's dry for instance. but they burn anything which would be good if I were a cigarette smoker. however, cigarettes are nasty, but cigars are awesome and 20 years later I still won't use a "fuel" lighter to light one if I can help it. the inserts solve this, I can have a great looking lighter with a butane torch in it. Like another person said, there are better options, depending on your need. zippo still has some real cool designs time to time.

If I had picks I'd post them, moved a few months ago and not sure where mine are.

PS
Evans lighters are great, I have/had a couple and they hold fuel a very long time but don't create as large a flame.

Charlie Mike, I have been having one hell of a time trying to find one of those Bil-Lit lighters. Been looking for one ever since I watched your vid on it awhile back. I contacted the guy who makes them and had no reply and there is never anything on his E-Bay store. Do you know if he is still in business? They look like a serious piece of kit and I want one.

I don't think he is making any for the time being. I lucked out and got mine for free because I brought him so much business.

love zippos and even love the smell of zippos but when it comes down to it. give me a bic. they do not need to be refilled every few days.

Found this one lying in the snow walking by a motel this morning. More than likely going get some pocket time and mod'd.

Great lighters, I've carried one for years. But lately I stick a BiC (or two) into my daypack. They hold their fuel nearly forever, unlike my Zippo, alas, and are great for emergencies.

I got bit by the Zippo bug about a month ago. I gotta get some pictures of them but so far I've got a high polished Ebony, 2 matte black, and a 1976 polished Slim. I'm still trying to think of ways to stone wash the one matte black one. See if I can get a black brass-wash going on :D
