Just curious how these knives, and more specific how these compression locks, hold up in a stressful environment, as opposed to say a frame lock?

I have a S30V para and just got a S90V millie and I love Spyders all the way, just curious?

I have been on Active duty for 16 years with the Army, I started carrying a Millie before the last tour I was on, I carried the Military in Afghanistan along with a Leatherman Core and a Vic Outrider.

Yeah Im lovin this carbon fiber model. I wonder how good it is at cutting open insurgents?

So, how'd it hold up?

FYI, the military isn't a compression lock, it is a liner lock. I have the BG42/CF model, and it is a great knife.

Well the best way I can answer your question is, 1. The knife came back with me, yes had some scratches on it but it came back with me. 2. the Military is my number one go to knife, I have said this on other threads, If there can be only one it would be the Miltary but now I am really crazy about my CF BG-42 Version.

One would hope said insurgents never got that close. Most of the men and women I know who have seen combat won't talk about it explicitly anyway.

Keep in mind, the Military was designed more as a utilitarian tool than as a combat or offensive/defensive-based weapon for those in the armed forces. Its design is based upon handling the more mundane tasks in the field, rather than gutting insurgents.

That being said, the modified clip point and flat grind would lead to some excellent penetration should that become necessary. The Military is the most solid liner lock I've ever seen, and it's probably my favorite EDC. It was my first Spyderco, and my experience was so positive I'm fiercely brand-loyal now.

I carried a D2 version last year during training for 5 weeks. Liked it alot.
