Otherwise known as a Case Seahorse?

If you do, how the heck do you use it comfortably? I have two now, through a series of blind trades on another forum, and I cannot get the thing to feel right in my hand.

Methinks one of these is leaving in the next trade series, looking for someone who would appreciate.

I love'em, I made myself one a few years ago.

I really enjoyed carring it, and one day I needed an engine for my pick up and a guy here in town wanted one of my knives and when I asked him what he wanted he asked what I was carrying, and when I showed him he said that's what I want. I told him I'd build him one and he said you don't understand! I want that one. So now I'm enjoying the engine in my truck & he's got my knife :grumpy: I'm going to build me another one when I get caught up on orders. Sorry you don't like yours, Later, Dwayne

I am wondering if the bulldogs are better or worse than the case offerings.

Also, Does anybody have a preference for swell center whittlers over the Seahorse?

Does anybody use them for whittling?

With the Bulldogs you get carbon steel, and a choice of sizes, from small to quite large. Case has only the one, although I'm on a campaign to get them to produce one in CV!!
You have to watch the fit of either, as I have sent back one of each, Case and Bulldog, because of blade fit problems. It's hard to beat a wharcliffe blade, whether or not you are a whittler. They are so controllable and useful. But the handle shape is going to please you or it isn't.
My hand likes the Seahorse, especially if you are choking up a little, and sqeeze cutting against your thumb.
I've always liked the look and pocketability of a swell-center balloon whittler, but find the handle a little small, especially as my hands get older.
Either way, I think most people have to carry a knife for a while before it becomes second nature or comfortable. Give it (them) a chance!

Beautiful knife Duane!

I have been carrying this one by Tony Huffman a few times a week for a few years.

Thanks Gus, I like Tony, and his work, he makes a nice knife & a Gentleman too. Here's a pic of the spine of the knife above.

I'm about ready to break down and make me another one. Just been too busy. Talk to you later, Dwayne

Duane, I'd kill to get one of your wharncliffe whittlers, and probably any other knife of yours. I was lucky enough to find a pocket pal a few years ago and it was an outstanding knife. How bout if I buy 2 whittlers, and you keep one for yourself? :D

Haven't carried a rogers whittler in a while, but I do have a couple by Bill Ruple, and early one and a REALLY early one that was probably one of his first. I carry both on occasion, and the newer one is actually one of my whittling knives.

That would be me, on both counts. ;) I'm still trying to find a nice carbon cigar whittler, though.

Fasteddie, Thanks for the kind words, don't kill anyone :D I've got an order for one pending and do plan on building me another. Bill Ruple is the one that got me wanting to make them. He's a good guy but don't tell him I said so ;) Talk to you later, Dwayne

Dang it Dwayne I hope ole Bill don't see your post about him being a good guy. He may start to believe it and figure he can get by on his personality or something. Hope you been doing good. And thanks for being so nice to me!!!
Your one heck of a nice guy with a major gift, talent and skill for making knives. I can't comment on your filework - no words do it justice. Just AWSOME! Take care I hope to be seeing some of you all soon.

And Gus I'm glad you still like that knife. Take care.

Late
Tony

This appears to be first class work and looks very nice in the photo.. Would you kindly leave your website address here, please?

Good to hear from you Tony! Are you going to be in Austin in a couple of weeks at the Central Texas Knife Show? If so I'll see you there. Also going to be at Johnny's in September, Lord willing! Dwayne

Sunnyd, Thank you for the kind comments on the whittler, Here's my web address, http://members.cox.net/ddushane

Hey Dwayne I'm going to try and make it down at least for a day. Would like to see everyone down there I haven't seen them in quite some time. Went by and saw Bill for a little while about year and half ago.

Been a long time since I 've see the guys and really looking forward to it ..... if I can make it work out.

You going to have lots of knives for the show?

Later
Tony
