Since they are both heavy-duty tactical folders and both have a tanto blade, can anyone give a comparition on those two great tanto folders?
Or just give a sketch, which one is better?

They are hard to compare. The Lum is an elegant, slimmer, knife, the strider is a folding tactical prybar. What are your needs?

imho this is like comparing apples/oranges - 2 totally different knives - have ya seen the strider?? it is fully 2X the width of my BM 975SBT, about the same blade length, handle, but the thing is WIDE - i bet 3X as wide as a LUM -

like i say, two totally diff knives imho, the strider is, well, just bigger

self defense? as long as ya dont have to conceal it/dont mind a heavy knife would go w/the strider, if ya wanna conceal it/heavy knives/thick knives bother you, go w/the lum

I'd take the strider, with a reprofiled edge, for defense, it's huge, but the lum rides high in the pocket, so they're about equally concealable.

I've never handled strider but I think that the tanto point is not sharpened - only the cutting edge. Point for prying etc. is not very tactical as stabbingability is one feature thet 'tactical' knife needs IMO. Spydercos tanto point is convex ginded to shaving sharpness.

Sifu and Tommi are correct. The Buck Strider and the Spyderco Lum are two very different knives. The Strider is much bigger and the tanto edge is not designed for cutting.

call ya must dress diff from me if ya can conceal a strider/buck as easily as a LUM, the thing is just so THICK, i think a SIFU is easier to conceal - nothing against the strider, i love them, getting one for Xmas..........(hopefully anyway lol)
