I just sharpened up the BK2 and am heading to a U-cut tree farm.....wife rolling her eyes, saying "whatever.....as long as I get my noble fir."
Anybody else done this or doing it?

I think my family will probably pretend they don't know me while I am doing it.....pictures to come.

I'm taking the tree down with an M-18 per my daughter's request. I promise to trim the tree with a BK9 though.

Went to the tree farm yesterday.
I used my Laplander to cut it down and my Machax to trim the base.

Going out this Saturday.
Substitute my 9 for the Machax and this is my plan precisely.
The saws they provide at the farm are crap...

Got our tree today. 9 would have been as effective as the saw they provided on the sapling we picked out, but my wife would've been appalled, the kids would've been scared, and the locals probably would've called the cops. So I just used a Spyderco to cut the twine.

:D I chopped apart a xmas tree with my first BK-5 about 6-7 years ago. There should be pics somewhere.

Last weekend with the 9.
For years I took an axe. The 9 was so much easier.
This will be my Christmas Tree slayer for many years to come.

I did. The misses wasn't happy since it was an artificial tree and already up and decorated...

Used the Laplander to cut the tree down, WAY, WAY better than the provided saws.
Then the 9 to prep it for the stand:

Tree looks good.
What's the best way to get sap off the blade?
When I'm in the woods, I just keep chopping/batonning, it kind of just wears off, at home I'm kind of lost...
Figure I'll just scrub it off with a scotch-brite pad and move on...

Use butter.....seriously. Mayo or Crisco works well for sap too. Sounds weird but totally works. Googone also.

chopping frozen xmas knots trees historically is a good way to chip out tool steel.

we've seen some horror shows in the past.

technically it's not abuse, but i don't do it anymore. i use an axe (broke one that way actually), or a chain saw :D

Hahaha!

Nice seeing some pics. This idea crossed my mind but I ended up using a saw to avoid panic in the streets at the sight of my 9.
