I went on a hike yesterday and did some brush clearing but only chopped 1
6" tree mostly just machete'd small saplings. I took the Foxy's Folly. That blade has just about become my favorite for hiking. So light I can't even tell it's there most of the time yet it can take all but the biggest stuff I'd run into.

I did a little, but like you 6" was the max. Sweetgum. Cut some pieces of it to turn on the lathe though. I used my Chiruwa AK. It is my truck knife. Then I got home and ruined the edge trying to sharpen it. I broke my last fine belt the other day and didn't want to use 80 grit!!!!! Not quite good with sandpaper yet. Gotta practice that.

You and I have very similar FF's. Lovely I'd say. I like mine a lot too.

I did a little test chopping with my new Livesay Sandbar Bowie. I have always wanted one of these and finally found one! In D-2 even. I had to do a little test chopping on some 2X4 material just to feel it out. What a sweet knife!
But no real chopping in the woods. Worked all 7 days this week and most likely the rest of the month. No woods time for me I guess.:(

I used a GRS for fishing purposes. Then cut weeds with it til I dinged the blade, rolling the edge on a hidden metal object. Hammered it back flat, finished the edge with a carbide cutter. Not as good as new, but users wear scars with pride.

Well, I didn't actually chop anything, but I took 3 khuks (20" WWII, 16.5" chiruwa WWII, replica hanshee) and a golok to a dinner party. Got some really funny looks, but everyone said 'how cool'. Some of them even meant it.

No chopping, but i did use my pen knife as a garden tool when i was planting my flowers and shrubs on saturday. After bending 3 out of 4 cheap gardening tools that my mother had bought for us, i decided to call in the big dawgs.

Actually, it did very, very well. it went through clay, gravel, and all manner of sod. It didn't shave after a day of being wedged in and out of the ground, but it was still chopping sharp. A little time on a butcher's steel, and it would give my arm a rough shave.

I had forgotten how great the PK really is:)

I haven't chopped anything in a while-I live in town now and between that and work I haven't had the opportunity. I am planning to do a little camping in the fairly near future though.

Did some yard work this past weekend in anticipation of Spring. The AK got a good workout, maple and oak branches up to about 3" dia.:) This knife is amazing.

Did a bit of chopping. Took out my 17.5" BGRS and gave it an evil workout. (which I do fairly often). This kukri has far surpassed my expectations. It's hands down the meanest chopper I own.

An 18.5" WWII, a Batangas Bolo- 15" blade(from Reflections of Asia) and a Camillus USMC vs an avacado tree (nothing bigger than 6" for now).

The bolo went up against the green, springy stuff. Right now it's only going through 1"-1.5" branches in one shot. Still working on getting it really sharp. The handle has developed a tiny bit of wiggle but nothing that has me worried. It handles well and doesn't tire me out. So far I'd say it was worth way more than the $20 they're asking for 'em.

The WWII will go through 1.5"-2" branches in one shot (clean cut). Branches 2"-3" tend to come off in one shot (maybe two) but the last bit breaks off instead of a clean cut all the way through. I'm sure it'd capable of more if one of the sharpening gurus were to get ahold of it. But with my limited sharpening skills and less than hulking arms it is the benchmark I measure my other long blades against.

The Camillus may seem like an toy compared to the other two (only here would a 7" blade look like a toy) but it was hanging from my belt. Climbing the tree may seem like a bad idea but climbing the tree with the bolo seemed like a really bad idea so I went up the tree with the old USMC (couldn't reach any more from the ground). It went through half inch branches without too much trouble but for anything thicker it needs to be reprofiled (which I'm slowly working on).

There you have it, three mini report from the field.

I did. Cut and cleared some honey locust and a few junk wood trees. I also cleared some ornamental grasses. I didn't use a khuk though, just this piece made by some local idiot :) here I'm still working on a reforged khuk and an old WWII I've put on a serious diet. I'd really like to see a 1/4" thick, wide bladed, thinner edged piece for my "work" habits :).
