In my first venture into CRK I got my hands on a large Sebenza in micarta. Instant and total love. Since then I've had many large Sebenzas pass through my hands, all beautiful.

Then came a small snakewood purchased from a friend here. Man what a surprise. After being so steadfast that a large Sebenza was the best Sebenza I experienced a healthy dose of foot in mouth syndrome and a slab of humble pie to the face.

I'm now noticing my interest are geared toward small Sebenzas and the mighty Zaan filling the big boy blade role(that and a big ole Shadow IV I just got).

I don't really know how or why, but I'm in love with the small Sebenza. Out of all the Sebs I've gone through, I miss the smalls the most.

Lightweight and enough cutting edge for my day to day.

Anyone else flip flop in their preferences or I'm just CRK bi polar all by my lonesome?

Oh, and happy birthday to me :D

I went a similar path, I bought a small thought it was too small, bought a large and was much more satisfied later tried an umnumzaan too and that was very nice too. Eventually I felt the same way and missed the smalls more than the larger crk's. I like the smalls more they are just extremely comfortable to carry and use. For a bigger knife right now a military is filling that role just fine.

Happy Birthday James! It's also my dear sister's birthday

My first 2 sebenzas were smalls, I haven't carried a large yet so I am with you on the usefulness of smalls.

Interesting because I'm about ready so put my Zaan, large classic, and large insingo on the exchange because I'm moving to all smalls. They just seem to work best for me especially dropped in my pocket at work.

Small seb is definitely my favorite CRK too. Just right!

Happy Birthday sir!!!

I've had a small Seb, Mnandi, and multiple Lg seb's.

Now I have Zaan, and it has stuck, so far.
All the other's are gone.

I don't like selling my knives but my interests do flop. Sometimes I gotta have a tactical style 5.5" blade, then I want a 12" monster chopper, now I'm onto fancier things like stag handles and fancy wood inalys, who knows what next month holds.

RR84, happy belated birthday and to answer your question I'm not only a flip-flopper, I'm a buyer-backer, a seller-regretter, and impulse buyer, a CRK-aholic and all around knife nut. :D
You're in good company, I think :p

But we all love you and hold none of that against you!!!

Thank you d.r.h., no one else seems to get it....guess you have to be a knife nut to understand.

I totally relate, and add Mnandi hoarder :p

Happy Birthday Sir!
I too have fallen "back" in love with the Sm Sebby.. at first dismissing them as too small.. But after one of our esteemed members gave me a Sm Snakewood Seb, and I sold it, I realized how much I missed that baby... so I now this one is coming this week, and I'll be cherishing it!
BTW.. if anyone ever comes across the Lil' Seb w/Lignum Vitai inlay pre-Idaho-stamp.... This is a grail for me.. appreciate a heads up.. Thanks!

That's being hilariously transparent, Lisa. I think we are all just a bunch of enablers here.

And for the reasons stated in the first post, I collect (certain) large Sebe's, but I EDC a small snakewood. It's like "fun-size" for occasions when a large might draw stares. My current "go-to" large carry is a 'zaan tanto for weekends or any blue jean-worthy event. Well, except for that carbon fiber Kershaw Blur that I just picked up - you know, for fun.

I was thinking maybe I shouldn't post that comment, but then I thought, heck, they know that about me already :D

I was and am in the same boat. If I was made to make a decision on wether or not to keep and a use a small Sebbie or large Sebbie,I would definitely chose the small. While I user the large most of the time now, I feel that the small has the most longevity as I get older. I don't see myself carrying a large Sebenza when I am 60 years old.

Thanks for the happy birthday wishes all!

I'm slowly accumulating more smalls. If anybody wants a large mammoth Classic for a small mammoth hit me up!

I think the Umnumzaan fills the niche of large folder just fine for me. I have a small plain jane 21 back in Idaho for some personality readjustments and a small "freedom" Seb in route. I think the small makes for an excellent gentleman's folder with all the precision and intricacy of it's bigger brother. The Mnandi is close, but just a touch too small.

I've had a small Regular plain jane that's fallen through twice! Boy oh boy:(

Franz, happy belated to your sis!

I don't know why, but, I have never been able to fall in live with my Zanns. It never gets carried but I keep because....well, because it's a CRK and its an "original" now.

Thank you, sir! Feeling older every day!

BBQ, throw that sucker in your pocket for a week!
