Anybody else carry an illegal knife?

I currently reside in a city with ridiculous knife laws, so I've made the (perhaps foolish) decision to carry "illegal" knives on a regular basis. "So you carry autos, right?" Nope. "Daggers? An oversized fixed blade?" Nope. I regularly commit the heinous crime of... Carrying a folding knife that locks open
It's been especially p****** me off lately for some reason, so I was wondering if any criminals of the same nature resided here on the forums.

City ordinances can be stricter than the states.

Thats pretty darn weak if you ask me. Glad i dont have to make that decision.

Carry safely OP.

City knife laws? Please. That's like cities printing their own money. Maybe they can do it, maybe they can't, but nobody cares either way.

I've definitely done it more than a few thousand times. It's impossible to not do so in New York City. These days I carry mostly slipjoints, SAKs and recently a Higo no Kami. I think those are generally less frowned upon than AO framelocks but it's really always a crapshoot.

There have been instances where I took my balisong with me to a friends house but I have yet to consistently carry an "illegal" knife.

Haha Im assuming SWAT isnt gonna break down my door.

Well, you are admitting to breaking a law on a PUBLIC FORUM... Although you may THINK that carrying an "illegal" knife that locks open, is nothing
police officers in your jurisdiction have an oath to uphold, no matter weather they agree with the law or not, and although they have discretion sometimes that could get them in trouble....

So you don't like the laws where you reside?... Either move, or I guess you could keep carrying that knife illegally... But I'd tell you to stop posting about your law-breaking escapades off of the public forums...

If you want to tarnish your record, lose your knife, and spend a day in court(+ pay a bunch of fees)... go right ahead, then make a thread about how much your P***** then... ;-) ..

Take care buddy!

I do, a Delica, it's a grey area in the uk, carrying a locking blade is illegal but I only carry it to and back from work where it is actually used for work, I consider that good reason but some May not.

San Antonio city ordinance. It's funny, because anywhere else in Texas even autos are completely legal.

I always do. Many thanks.

City knife ordinances are laws, and you can get in serious trouble for violating them; Texas has no preemption on local knife laws like we do in regard to guns. It is unlikely that you would ever be prosecuted for that alone, but it is possible. Guessing from your screen name, you would at minimum face a general discharge if convicted, possibly a dishonorable discharge, which is basically the same as a felony conviction as far as civil disability is concerned (no voting/guns/apartments/jobs/etc)...common sense would advise against talking about illegal activities on a public internet forum.

If you are of a certain age and don’t attract attention ,you may not be stopped by a police officer.I gave up on lockers a while back, not worth the bother.

I think he is 100% safe from San Antonio's long arm of the law so to speak. It is highly unlikely they are monitoring knife forums to arrest those who choose not to follow the law.

Can you carry fixed blade?

If I lived there I would be a criminal too.

Usually I comply with the local city ordinance. Usually...

But the sebenza 25 is just a tad over. I'm pretty stealth.

I also live in San Antonio and trust me all the cops I've talked with really don't care. I also carry locking knives my Leatherman Core, Spyderco Tenacious and Kershaw Shuffle and haven't had a problem even accidently walked into the courthouse with my Shuffle cause it lives in the bottom of my pocket for when I need to cut something when others are around and they just held it at the door for me. I'm hoping that Knife Rights can get that preemption law passed and we won't have to deal with it anymore.

San Antonio's local knife laws aren't the most rational. From some accounts, though, they typically don't charge you on the knife alone, but rather they use the illegal knife to escalate your offense if you are caught doing something else. I'm not a lawyer, so I don't know if that's actually the case. If I were you, I'd not risk it.

I snapped this pic a while back. One of these knives is illegal to carry around in San Antonio. Care to guess which one? ;)

Unless he is in LE contact for something else. Also, being in the military does not in any way protect one from prosecution for violating local/state laws in this case.
