Got a letter from Verizon the other day thanking me for being such a good customer. Guess I pay my bills. :D Anyway, they say they're going to give me a free $40 service credit if I call one of their cust svc reps by Dec 21st. Has anyone else received the same letter and actually made the call? I'm curious how a 'service' credit might differ from any other type of account credit. I'd also like to be sure that I won't need to be on the phone for more than a minute or two.

heh, sounds likw they're paying you to be some kind of test subject or poll taker Good luck!.

Sounds to me like they're going to offer you a $40 discount on the installation "service charge" for the upgrade the sales pitch is about -- if you fall for the sales pitch. If you don't, you get nothing.

No real point in speculating -- somebody is bound to try it and post about it on the net, no need for you to be first. I just want to go on record with my prediction so I can boast when it turns out I'm right.

I'm reminded of the famous words of my younger brother, "If you think you're getting something for nothing, then you're a dummy and you don't even know it!"

This is a reference to one of my sainted father's favorite sayings, "The only thing more dangerous than a dummy is a dummy who doesn't even know he's a dummy."

On the other hand, what have you got to loose? Call 'em up and see what they're offering.
