He`s one of the best posters on this forum. I read his posts like Im reading the writings of an expert. Always watching out for what and how he carries his traditional slipjoints. Last I saw of him, he had swapped out his pocket carried stockmans for the new barlow. Maybe hes so satisfied with his new knife, got nothing left to accomplish anymore.

I haven't spoken with him at length for a couple months now.
Anthony is one of the great ones, and I'm proud to call him a friend. I know he kinda had his plate full for awhile, like we all do at one time or another.

While I was downsizing my collection, we had spoken about the concept, and I think he was feeling the same way I was for a while... The never ending looking for that next knife becomes an obsession. When you reach the point where your life evolves around knives from the time ya get up, till the time ya go to bed, its almost more of a sickness. At that point, for me anyway, I just wasn't havin fun.

Sometimes ya just gotta regroup and get a change of perspective, so things start becoming fun again.

I may be wrong, but I think that Anthony is like most of us here. We will never find the perfect knife, so because of that, there will always be change and tryin somethin new

That is a frustratingly accurate statement, at least for me. Knives are one of my only vices that tide me between the times I've got my head down studying. Almost a bit sad, sacrilege or not.:(

I have noticed that his pile of posts dont grow fast. I also reed everything he writes here together with some other posters that are incredibly good at writing about and thinking about knifes. He is part of the spine in the body of this forum. He is also very generous with I in person have benefitted from. Hope hes back in a general basis soon.

Anthony is one of the best and I hope that he is doing well and will drop back in and visit the forum again. I bet he will when the time is right for him.
I got to a point at one time where I felt like my interest in knives had become an obsession. It was taking up to much of my time and money and had really stopped being fun. I took a big step back and for a while just tried to leave it alone.
I regained my perspective and things just sort of fell back into place.

I did not know he was missing, here is one of his last post. On 9/18/09 and another here on 9/21/09.
He is a great guy, have not talked with him in a while.

oh well im sure sorry to hear that he might not be enjoying his knives anymore. i always thought of him as very balanced and a kind of exemplar at the art of living and fine things. but if he needs a break i hope he will stay away as long as it takes to get perspective. on a related point i feel compassion for anyone whose hobby turns out to be too consuming. i guess that might be something like ocd? i just feel really glad to have this hobby because it is alot of fun for me. but i mix it up with activities like blade combatives and bushcraft so it doesnt just become about buying and collecting. i think collecting is really the trap to be aware of and avoid. the way to do that is through using activities. i just hope that anthony, if i may adress him that way is doing ok and would like to thank him for many great posts.

busy at work, enjoying his holidays, broken fingers, lot of things beside loosing interest in knifes can make a man not visit internetforums as frekvent all times. I always has an eye open for his writing and pictures as he is very enjoyable when he posts.
