Got a CSKII today and though liking it was thinking i wish Benchmade made a big camping chopper or something. Anybody know of one they made in the past? Would like to see something in the size range of the BK9 or Bk7. Like the tactical/small camp knives but wishing they would make some bigger fixed knives. Anybody else like to see Benchmade produce some bigger fixed blades?

I wish they'd make more fixed blades period. The bushcrafter is by far the nicest they've come out with recently IMO, I wish they'd do a few more along that line, an EDC, a B&T, or maybe even a chopper, anything less tactical or geared torwards hunting would be sweet. Brad

I've got to agree with brad. I love Benchmade's folders, and would like to see more fixed blades by them in general. Especially since they do such a good job with 154-cm.

Funny you mentioned it. I called them the other day asking them to make the exact same thing. Actually, I need a good machete. Imagine 18" of 154cm with G10's. I know there are other manufacturers out there, Esse, customs, etc, but I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

I'd like to see a hard use fixed blade. Something like a 6" bladed chunk of 1/4" D2 with G10 scales and a rigid quick release sheath like the Nimravus. Benchmade does D2 better than anyone and another fixed blade would be great.

I love the CSK-II, the Rants, the fixed Griptilian, etc., but they've really dialed back on the fixed blades over the past few years.

18" of 154CM would be one hell of an expensive machete.

The machete made of 154cm does sound pretty sweet so does the 6" D2 blade and totally agree that Benchmade does D2 the best. Has Benchmade made a D2 fixed blade it the past? Also agree with Ramzar on there being a M4 fixed in the future. thinking about getting the s30v verison a great deal. A big hunting/chopper clip or drop point 7-9" in 3V or 51200 is kinda what i'm wishing for. Any of these mentioned would be excellent.

I don't know. I think they have a lot of competition doing a lot of things right and it would be a hard market to get into.

I buy Benchmades primarily for their Axis folders, autos and balisongs. There's already a lot of fixed blades out there all doing the same thing. I'm not opposed to it but I would rather see Benchmade invest in improving what they are already making right now like improving QC, putting on a less obtuse factory edge, and dumping the crappy BK coating for DLC.

The original 156 CSK, the 201 and the 211 were made of d2. Do all of you conclude your judgement of Benchmades D2 on any of these or on their folders? I wouldn't want D2 @ 60..62 HRC nor 154cm in any larger fixed blade with a blade >4.5". I'd prefer M4, 3V or simple carbon steels for toughness.

Had a 375 briefly. Liked it alot but asked myself when would i use this instead of just using the 275 or others? So got rid of it. If it would have came with some nice G10 or CF scales probably would have kept it. That knife has a great factory edge. too Redmasta i've gotten a bad factory edge or maybe two from Benchmade also. Most are good though. First BM ever got had a blunt edge. The 275. Actually had me bummed for awhile til sharpened and reprofiled it. Defineatly at least a hair shaver/splitter now. Most have come with just as good edges as other companies though. I'd have no problem buying just Benchmades for all my knife needs in shapes and sizes. They should give a big chopper/camper/hunter a shot. See how it sells. If it wasn't meant to be wasn't meant to be. I'd like to see what they come up with though.

I agree with your assessment fully, Sir. I personally LOVE Benchmade's D2 at ~61 on their folders, but would much prefer M4, A2, or even good ole 1095 on anything longer than 4.5" or 5" and especially on larger, chopper-type blades. I think we have similar tastes and preferences in our using knives.
