I just ordered my first knife kit, the spearpoint model which knifekits.com claims was designed by darrell ralph. They look like a lot of knife for the money, but I was wondering if anyone here had any insights on building them, are they actually as good as the website makes them look. I hope so. I also used this as an excuse to get a new Dremel set up to do the polishing and sanding work with. :) Here's a link to the model I purchased. I got the spearpoint with Cocobolo handle scales. Thanks for any info you've got. http://www.knifekits.com/store/s-pages/kk_store_1mainframe.htm?kk_products_fixedkits_main.htm~smain

Oh, that is sexy...
I haven't had any experience with them, but you be sure to post some pixs once you get going. Hope it all works out for you.

Knifekits.com is a geat company, and it is run by Darrell Ralph. The kits are top notch, and if you take your time and work carefully you can make a great knife.

Here is a GX-6 kit that I made MOP scales and damascus bolsters for.

great place to get a kit-knife. higher quality than the rest. You'll love it!

Glad to see all positive feedback so far. I figure this kit'll probably come out as a write - off but at least it will get me used to working with these types of materials. Hopefully not, you never know. Does anyone know, is Cocobolo the wood which gives off toxic dust when sanded, or am I thinking of Bocote. I know I've heard that you need to use a respirator when working with one or the other of them, but I can't remember which.
