Surfing around, I found this stuff listed on Timken Latrobe's website, and got curious. Not a stainless by any means, but might be promising. It is bearing quality, and double vacuum melted, just like the BG42 stainless.

Alloy content is:

C- .85 %
Mn- .30 %
Si- .20 %
Cr- 4.10 %
Mo- 4.25 %
V- 1.00 %

Supposed to be pretty strong stuff, and will be clean. Don't think I would wanna forge it, but who knows? Just curious if anybody has ever used any of this stuff?

Yes they sometimes refer to it as a semi high speed steel.I don't particularly see any advantage to using it as a blade steel.
