You may be in Michigan, but I hope you're at Ford field getting ready to cheer on the Steelers.
I am a big proponent of the Edge Pro having purchased about every doodad on the market over the years. The Edge Pro is by far the best and will not disappoint. I recently upgraded to the Pro version with the Scissors attachment (option) though I have yet to use it.
I am still using my Apex with 4 stones and 3 polishing tapes. I usually reprofile all knives to about 12 degrees per side (assuming that they are all a good steel) and then put a primary edge on it of 15 degrees per side. That way, if I need to do a quick touch up I just use the Spyderco Sharpmaker at the 30 degree set up.
I actually received the PRO as a gift. I'm not a professional sharpener so for my needs, the APEX would have been fine. If you have the extra money, then certainly upgrade to the PRO. Just remember, that the scissor attachment is an option.
You can only buy the PRO directly through Edge Pro. Call them with your questions. There's a good chance that you'll be talking to Ben Dale, owner and inventor, who is the easiest perosn on earth to talk to. He'll give you very straightforward answers.
If you do the "Search this Forum" for Edge Pro (doesn't seem to be working this morning) you'll find a lot of discussions on the product; 95% very favorable.
Good luck....and we have some snow down here as well (Cincinnati area).
