Newbie here, Hello everybody...... I was wondering if anybody here owns an Edge Pro Sharpening System? Or does anybody know of said system?
Im kinda curious as to their knowledge of Edge Pro and would like to hear all comments good and or bad .
Thanks
BbqBull

Ted, thanks for your response..... I assume you have an Edge Pro system.
May I ask which one? The Apex or Pro system. Im leaning towards the Pro system after I save up my nickels for a while, because reading the brochures they sent me, I believe the Pro system is......well. has a much better base and many more angles on the adjustment gauge.
Also, I was considering the Pro system w/scissors attachment so I can sharpen my joiner blades, as well as my wood chisels.
Any thoughts from you would be most benificial.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Bull, here in snowy Michigan.......

You may be in Michigan, but I hope you're at Ford field getting ready to cheer on the Steelers.

I am a big proponent of the Edge Pro having purchased about every doodad on the market over the years. The Edge Pro is by far the best and will not disappoint. I recently upgraded to the Pro version with the Scissors attachment (option) though I have yet to use it.

I am still using my Apex with 4 stones and 3 polishing tapes. I usually reprofile all knives to about 12 degrees per side (assuming that they are all a good steel) and then put a primary edge on it of 15 degrees per side. That way, if I need to do a quick touch up I just use the Spyderco Sharpmaker at the 30 degree set up.

I actually received the PRO as a gift. I'm not a professional sharpener so for my needs, the APEX would have been fine. If you have the extra money, then certainly upgrade to the PRO. Just remember, that the scissor attachment is an option.

You can only buy the PRO directly through Edge Pro. Call them with your questions. There's a good chance that you'll be talking to Ben Dale, owner and inventor, who is the easiest perosn on earth to talk to. He'll give you very straightforward answers.

If you do the "Search this Forum" for Edge Pro (doesn't seem to be working this morning) you'll find a lot of discussions on the product; 95% very favorable.

Good luck....and we have some snow down here as well (Cincinnati area).

I use the Edge Pro - Pro model. Before you buy the Pro with the scissors attachment for Joiner Blades make sure the attachment is going to fit the blades. There is a width limit to what the attachment can handle. (don't recall off hand) There is such a diversity in joiner blades I can't even guess what style or shape you are wanting to sharpen.

There a lot of posts here and in other forums that can help you out. Don't hesitate to contact Edge Pro email or phone they are a great group of people and their customer service is second to none.

If you get an Edge Pro either the Apex or Pro. Make sure you get the new MF stone! It is truly a step up.

Thanks for all the imput.... I will call Mr. Ben Dale tomorrow.
Thanks again for your imput.
