Anybody go tip-up on the blur?

I usually prefer tip-up carry but recently discovered every knife isn't well suited for it. I changed my Zing to tip-up carry and found that I didn't like the way the clip felt in my hand so I switched it back. Has anyone done the blur and have a preference either way? I could switch it, I know, but figured I would check the pulse of the board first.

if its drilled for tip up, that's the way its carried. especially Speedsafe in the right front pocket.

It all depends on how it sits in the pocket, how the clip feels in hand, and how it retrieves in the hand. I seem to go tip down more than tip up. Seems like my thumb stud only knives except the blur, end up tip up.

I've only carried a Blur tip up. Only my chill and skyline are tip down. Everything else gets changed to tip up as soon as I get it.

I prefer tip-down, the only exception being that I can work with a tip-up knife with 3" blade or less, or maybe a knife with a flipper. I can pull the knife out and open it faster tip-down than tip-up.

BUT the biggest downside to me is that if my knife is tip-down and I try to put my hand into my pocket (right-front jeans pocket) then my hand rubs against the jimping on the top spine of the blade or agaisnt the thumb studs. With the Blur the thumb studs are like sharks teeth and will not be kind to the side of your hand. For the record the thumb studs are one of the best features of the Blur because they make it very easy and foolproof to open quickly.

I carry tip down whenever possible, and whenever not possible, I tap my own holes. :D I also carry left front pocket, so I'm the black sheep here. Tip down puts my thumb right at the stud.

Yeah the thumbstuds on the Zing are similar but smaller so I kind of knew what I was expecting there. I didn't think about going tip-up would tuck those palm rippers away so that's a good thought.

Its funny that you say you can pull the knife and open faster with tip down, because the way I pull my knife it seems to be quicker with a tip-up carry.

My preferance to tip-up/tip-down carry is usually dependant upon how much knife is sticking out, but I do find myself going for tip-up a little more then tip-down. One exception is the Skyline. I like a little knife to stick out so I have something to grab onto, but tip-up carry on the Skyline is a little too much knife sticking out for my liking. On the Blur, the amount if knife sticking out is about the same, so I'll have to get around to swapping that clip to tip-up and see how I like it. I'll also have to see about de-assisting it while I'm already busy. Seems pretty straight forward, take knife apart, take torsion bar out, put knife back together, and you're all set.

Tip up on all mine. Will drill and tap if needed, just works better for me.

I carry tip up on everything I can, I only own one knife that is tip down and I am planning to have custom scales made for it at which time it will get converted to tip up.

I tried to carry one tip up, but just don't like the way it looks. It's a personal preference I guess.

I switched my Blur to tip up. Pretty easy with a nice inexpensive Husky Torx set I bought at Lowe's.

I just wish I could find a deeper carry clip for it.
