Anybody Got A Knife?

Checked my EDC while I was reading this article in the local paper. The life boat is still attached to the wreck.View attachment 2100695

Guess it is a good idea to have a knife mounted in the lifeboat for emergency use?

Yup, I have a knife in my PFD when kayaking.

Sad, but I think at that point I could have chewed through that rope.. you know, if it was loosing some teeth vs drowning.

In 1894 , I expect most of the crew would have a knife , unless off duty, asleep etc .

Maybe this just happened too fast to get the rope cut . Or all were just too panic stricken to get it done ?

I always had a knife with me when I was on board my ship when I was in the Navy.

Self deploying inflatable life rafts come with a line cutter. Life boats used to have a knife in them for cutting the line but sometimes it was repurposed as someone’s pocket knife.
