I've got two personal ones connected to my time here.
One is to get my ass into better shape. I don't like the way I look or feel lately, so something's got to go. That something is about 30 pounds of fat.
The other is to take stock and streamline. That means less consumption and more usage of the many good pieces of gear I already own. Expect lots of reviews in 2013.
Both of these mandates mean you'll probably see less of me online in 2013. Working out takes time. And dirt time takes time.
On the plus side, since my posts really are not memorable, I don't expect anyone to notice I'm gone.

I plan to get in better shape myself as well I want to lose 10 lbs (want to get back to a lean mean 155) and put some more time into gear reviews and outdoor shenanigans

I've considered a "Beckerhead, Get Your Azz in Shape" thread. There's some power in numbers and group accountability.
But I also realize that the responsibility is with me. If I don't do the work, it aint' gonna' happen.

wouldn't hurt a bit.

my goals are to throw more crap out, learn another language and development paradigm that are FAR overdue, and to figure out how the hell to upgrade my knifemaking equipment. And to win the lottery. And if you post a get-in-shape thread, I'll post there too. ;)

I decided not to. I seem to not stick to them anyways.

Hell I have a tough time with it and I have access to a good gym and hundreds of miles of wilderness up at college. We could have something like the snark thread but for fitness logging, If we notice that someone hasn't been updating anything in a bit we can ridicule them in snark :D

I resolve to help you, send me your unwanted/unneeded gear.

My other resolution is to limit the number of folks on my "block" list. I hate having to click "read post" everytime one of you mods post something, especially since I don't remember it after reading.

I am thinking the same thing - lose some weight and get in shape!

I am looking to lose 40 lbs - I am quite the piggy right now.

best

That was kind of the direction I was heading.
Moose and I once had a monetary bet, where if one person lost the goal and the other didn't, there would be a settlement. We both failed miserably? :p
That sort of bet did work for me once before, but it was substantial ($300), and I barely made it. However, the thought of losing $300 did get me off the couch. :D

Liar. You can't Ignore moderators. I've tried. :D

1.)Weigh less than 85kg again
2.)Do good in evening school
3.)Finish vivariums for my ball pythons

Connected to my OP, there are a couple of things I'd like to do this year.
One is to roll my sea kayak. That means practice, but it also means I need more flexibility and strength.
The other is to complete a 26-mile, one-day mega hike hosted in my area each year.
This past year, the Becker Gathering conflicted, but there was no way I was ready to undertake the hike anyway.

I put up the fitness log thread. We'll see if anyone wants to weigh in.

My new one is pretty simple.

My lifelong goal is to become a renaissance man. To make that happen I decided I want to gain a new real skill, or pick up a new hobby/interest every year or so. BF has actually done that for me over the last year, and I have really enjoyed the journey and want to continue into other areas.

For instance, I'd like to pick up wood carving, rock climbing, astronomy, cooking, and a few others just off the top of my head.

I told my wife today I wanted to take up ice pillar climbing. She just sighed and said I should take up house cleaning.

hahah, I meant one at a time. Those are just hobbies and skills that I thought sounded interesting to learn.

Carving is likely one of the first that I'll do, because that dovetails very nicely into the current knife hobby...

:D

For some reason, Sierra Trading Post is sending me free subscriptions to both Backpacker AND Climbing magazines.
The first I like. The other, I don't understand completely. However, ice pillar climbing looked like fun--up to the point of dying a horrific, cold death.

Mine are:

Quit my job. Permanently.
Make the move to the Homestead by April.
Have the first main room to the new house built by the end of September.
And last but most important, spend more time with my wife and kids.

If anyone needs assistance losing fat, look into leangains.com. I am fat right now at 8% body fat and I get down to exactly 6% in the summer. I do it all while eating awesome food and drinking booze.

Start cleaning the house wearing a backpack, harness, helmet and crampons. Attach everything to you with carabiners...the vacuum, the Swiffer, Windex, Pledge and papertowels. Attach a laundry basket to your pack. Walk into the living room and suggest the first pitch start on the living room wall next to the flatscreen tv....

She'll tell you to get the hell out of the living room and stay off the carpet with "those things on your boots".

As you head out the front door to go climbing, neatly place all cleaning supplies where she can find them.

Problem solved!!! :D
