Guys,
Last I heard, Sheffield Supply did not have any more of the hollow grinding videos. I'm going to double check with them on Monday, but I'm not holding my breath.
I was wondering if anyone around here had any GOOD grinding videos? I have only heard of the "hollow grinding" video that used to come from Sheffield Supply, but I'm sure there have been more made.
Anybody got any they'd loan a fellow with a new BaderIII in need? I promise I'd send them back in perfect shape. I'd be willing to buy them too, if they are good info.
Anybody know of any knife supply stores selling any grinding videos??? Thanks so much fellas..

The American Bladesmith Society has some grinding videos for sale. They have a web page, look in the Store section.

Well, I checked centercross's website, and it seems their links to their videos don't work! Shoot! Oh well, I sent an email the Gene.
I will also look into the ABS. Thanks fellas!

You can purchase the Johnny Stout Hollow Grinding Video, directly from Johnny Stout at www.stoutknives.com.
His e-mail is johnny@stoutknives.com.
Nice guy, I talked to him on the telephone about a week ago in regard to purchasing a couple of his videos, which I have not done yet.
Let me know how you like it.
Jon

Having videos are great but the only down fall I have seen with some listed with the exception of the Stout video is they are using Grinding jigs,I have nothing against them but learn to freehand grind and you will be able to repeat any grind out there, you are very limited in the grind types you can do with jigs.Learn to grind freehand first and eveything will fall into place.I tried a jig when I first started and found out there were a pain in the butt. But to each there own.Videos are very interesting I love to watch other people work

Thanks Nathan, I did not know about them using jigs. This is GOOD to know, and I'm very glad you let me know.
I got the Stout video coming. JTW told me had borrowed one of your vids the other day...
Thanks again bud.

Jigs are good for only straight grinds mostly. simple grinds. Free handing without even a tool rest is the final place. but you will go through a bunch of steel. The basics are the same but freehanding needs practice, lots of. With jigs a novice can produce good quality grinds within a day. I still practice at night at home so I can get hook blades and other non standard grinds hollow ground correctly. Thats why weird curves cost lots more$$$ But jigs pay the bills on multiple knife runs.
