I be needing some of this :

256MB SDRAM, PC133 • CL=2 • Unbuffered • Non-parity • 133MHz • 3.3V • 32Meg x 64

Will trade for sake or shuriken.

My dad has a stick of 256 133. What old fu you running over there? I am not sure about the specific voltage or cl or the 32x64 (it has been awhile since I had to care about such things). Unless you have a very picky computer I am sure ours is compatable. Perhaps I can find some 512 to replace my dads with locally.

I will talk to my dad and see what I can work out.

BTW, what is usuall shipping from US to Japan for under 1lb.

Last 256 MB 133 DIMM I bought was 3 years ago and was barely $30. I currently have 3 of those chips in this system that I built then. They will all probably be free when I rebuild but that won't be for a year or so. There's still some life left in this beast, and it's damn fast considering.

P.S. I go back to work on 1/3. I KNOW we had about a terrabyte of this exact SDRAM old memory in a batch of DELL systems bought back then that have just been pulled offline and are ripe for the midnight plucking. If you can wait till next week I'm sure I can dig something up back in the warehouse. How many chips do you need?

Can't promise anything but will do my best.

Regards,

Norm

I have lots of memories I don't need, and think putting them in an envelope and sending them away is a good idea.

I will see what (if any) labeling is on the ram. Does it have to be those exact specifications (the cl and 32x64)? If this stuff will work I will go to a couple of local shops and see if I can get my dad a bigger stick of ram to put in his computer. I figure that if I go to a store like best buy for my dads new ram I would see if I can get them down to their bottom line.

Can I ask what computer this is for? The one my dad has is a VIA chipset with an amd Duron 800Mhz.

Yoippari, be sure to check the motherboard specifications of your Dad's system. It is possible for the board to accept DIMMS in 128 or 256 MB but NOT 512, in which case your Dad should stick with what he has. The documentation that came with the motherboard will specify what it can and cannot take in each of the slots. FYI, 133 mhz SDRAM will also operate in systems designed for 100 MHZ stuff, but not vice versa.

Norm

I know we don't have the documentation. I will probably be able to find it on the manufacturers site. That is one of the concerns I had about upgrading my dads computer. The only limits I know of for my motherboard is no more than one 400 mhz stick with no more than 256mb on it, and up to 2 gigs total. I figure that if my motherboard cant handle more than 256 of its version of fast ram then I need to be carefull of my dad's.

I remember Mr. Beaker, my 6th grade teacher...I have *no* use for that memory. You're welcome to it!

I've got some memory that you would be welcome to as well, but since I've grown accustomed to the excretia I'll keep it rather than subject someone else to the ordeal.

Ahhh yes.......

Fifth grade writing class....big hulk of a b*tch....Mabel Renz....you got 'er!!:grumpy:
Freshman Latin class....well rounded young female, straight out of college....
Miss Pollard....keepa' you hands off....she's a KEEPER! (what'a set'a gazongas!);)

my computer is my own creation. it has a pentium 1 ghz cpu on a 133 motherboard.
i have 256 mb ram, i want to go up to 512.
i built it in 2001, so 2001 and slighlty before technology is what i need.
The numbers need to match, like CL2 has to be CL2 and not CL3.

just finally tossed the PC I built in 2001, DIJ. I kept the memory chip, but I think it's 266, not 133.

Best of luck with your project.

I built a new one - bought the parts off newegg.com
Cost around $500 for parts and now it's smokin'......:D

Left me without a computer for a week or two though....:o :(

I built mine about the same time. It's a PIII 700 Mhz. with 768 MB of the 133 mhz SDRAM. When I first built mine a single 256 MB module was about $100; within 6 months it had fallen to less than $30 each so I bought two more to max out the motherboard. Like I say, it still flies pretty good.

Third grade, went camping in Baja California, ate street food popsicle in Ensenada ... woke up that night pooping myself.

You can have that memory, I'm done with it!

I've got a few old memories I don't need. A pint of bourbon will wash them away. For a little while.
