I have seen advertisements for these devices, and some fairly interesting claims have been made regarding them.
These are things that you can evidently point at the scrub, and if they detect a difference in heat, they indicate it on their display.
The are probably designed mainly to help people find shot animals in scrubby areas (or cornfields or whatever).
A while back when some wild pigs had moved on to a neighbour's farm I was frustrated at not being able to figure out where they were. There is a lot of low scrub on the property that is too dense to see through. On occasions I was standing within a few feet of them. I could hear them chomping on food and crashing through the undergrowth, but I couldn't get a shot at them.
I didn't know where they were spending most of their time, so I had problems figuring out where to base my stakeout operation or where to set my traps. I was tempted to order one of these detectors, but they were very expensive...especially when I considered the shipping costs and the currency conversion.
Can anybody tell me some true stories about them?
Thanks in advance.... Coote.
