I understand there were only 500 of these Blade Show knife of the year produced. I saw a listing for one and wanted to know how they stack up to some of the other premium folders.

Here is a great Youtube by Ken Onion that reviews the knife if you are not familiar with it.

It looks awesome.

Several of us on these fora have one. Do a search and you can find a couple of threads about it. Some difference of opinion about whether it is worth the buy or not.

Personally, I love mine but I got it early on when the price was somewhat less than now. Great flipper, nice design. Very happy with it and glad that I bought it. :)

Thanks for the info. You seem to be one of the few that likes the knife, most seem to hate it and say it is not worth half of what the going price was.

I read the posts back when the knife became available and decided not to take the risk then. Well I received one for Christmas and it's one of the good examples. F&F is great and it's the smoothest flipper I own. The only 2 cons I knew and expected before I even unwrapped it. The weight for this size of folder is heavy. This one surpasses ZT weight boundaries. The second is they didn't care to finish the titanium where the lockbar was cut. I knew about this and it still shocked me a bit when I saw it. The only other con I have read about was the sticky lock. Mine was sticky for about 20 flips and then smoothened out.

Thanks for the info. I'm wondering what the Blade Show members saw in it to vote it Overall Knife of the Year for 2014. I'll bet Ken Onion is very made about the quality of the production of his design.

I thought it looked pretty cool but never had a chance to handle one. I like D2 steel.

What do you know about LionSteel out of Italy?

I didn't have any issue with it. I took it apart and the tolerances were great. The caged bearings were painted gold which I thought was a little tacky but I would say the cage used was of better quality then a lot production folders like the Spyderco Southard for example. It was perfectly centered when I had it back together, which also took no time to disassemble and reassemble.

The only issues I have read about is the sticky lock, which mine didn't have. One member had a serious issue with the stick along with the F&F IIRC but he remedied the issue himself. Honestly, the biggest problem most people have here is buying a CRKT for more than $100, let alone $400.

I have only carried this since Christmas Day, but it is really growing on me. Despite the weight, it is well balanced and still disappears in my pocket. I haven't had the pleasure of owning an SR1 or any of the Lionsteel models but I can tell you my Hijinx is a good example of what they typically produce which can't be bad considering they won the Manufacturing award this year at Blade.

I will likely pickup a backup in the near future.
