The "cutlers anvil" is also called a "steady" Its a cute little anvil just for folder makers and is a breeze (so I hear) to push and peen folder pins. I may have to make my own if I cant buy or trade for one.

Bruce, do you happen to have a pic, drawing, or link for a cutler's anvil? I'm curious; did a google and came up empty.

I've been meaning to make a few of those to offer up for sale, but just haven't had the time.

Thanks fellas for the links and advice. $125 sounds like allot to pay for a tiny anvil. I may have to make one myself. I would trade for one maybe if Higgins makes one?

Yeah I think $125 is about twice what I would charge. Want one, Bruce? Email me.

How about one of these? :

Steve Ryan first showed me one of these. Then, after talking to my Dad about it some time later, he mentioned that he'd always wanted one. A month later, a nice new Starrett 129 bench block showed up unexpectedly:) I find it very handy. It's great for tapping pins in or out of stuff.

If you wanted to do a lot of peening or other work that required a flat spot, perhaps the larger model (119) would be desireable.
