... how much the Izula folder will retail for? I know that there haven't been any specs released, so it's pretty much just a wild-ass guess, but if anyone has an educated ball-park, I'd love to hear it. I'm sure it will be significantly more than the FB Izula, but the RAT/ESEE design philosophy seems to be usability and reliability at a reasonable price, so I'm hoping it won't be too bad...

Thanks

PS- first post here, if this has already been discussed somewhere else, I apologize, and would appreciate being pointed in the right direction

The only ones who might have an inkling of possible cost are Jeff and Mike...it's a ways off and there are not even any protos yet as far as we know.

I'll venture a guess. Based on industry strandard for a solid fixed blade, non custom, non exotic metal setup, I would say between $150-$190. With the Sebenza on one side, and the "Gas Station Bucket-O-Knives" at the counter running $5, I would say it would be about that price. Considering they will stay American Made, and solid carbon steels, without OU812 hyper super secret steel, its a safe bet.

Let me know what I won and when I win it.

"Yikes" says my wallet.....I hope it doesn't run that high. A lot of quality folders out there for half that cost or less.

Well, I say look at the price of a now current ESEE3. That's a fixed blade price. Now, factor in the new materials, bearings, spacers and add the amount of time it takes to put together a SOLID folding knife, test it, sharpen it, package it and get it out the door. What was the price of the new HEST/F again? Just as a point of reference, what quality folders where you referring to? I paid nearly $100 for a made in Taiwan, G10 handled folder, with an AUS8 blade, and black coating. Its one of the most solid folders I have owned. I don't even carry it anymore, or any folder for that matter.

I would be game for an Izula folder if it was in the price range mentioned by Moose.

That puts it in some pretty competitive company, though. The Spyderco Military can be had for as low as $115 brand new in the box if you shop around enough, and the Benchmade Ritter Grip can also be had for around that 115 figure. Those are my two, go-to, benchmark production folders that I rotate through my EDC setup.

I'm looking forward to see this come to be a reality, but until then, I'll try and forget about it, and just buy some more fixed ESEEs. :D

Take care and God bless.

materials play a big part in cost. also the tooling involved will increase cost. my guess is that it wont exceed 200 dollars street price.

Thanks for the insight, everyone. I've been looking around at folders in the $100 range, and would be willing to hold off on a purchase until this is released, assuming it's not way out of my range. I'm really impressed with everything I've seen and read of ESEE (I have a RAT-3 from before the Ontario fallout), and especially with their integrity and commitment to customer service they've shown here in the boards, so I'd love to support these guys again if possible.

That said, I'm sure any folder they make will be worth every penny, so if it does wind up coming in closer to the $200 mark, I suppose I'll just have to save up a little more...

I'm guessing in the $150 - $200 range also, though less is better! I can't recall but is this supposed to be about the same size as a fixed Izula? I'm really looking forward to getting one of these as well as a HEST folder. I've been waiting for some really tough folders.
I love EDCing my Caly3 but would prefer something I know can take more abuse without damaging the blade.

HEST Folder was $175.00 so I would guess this Izula folder will be between 130-180... Id guess closer to 145.00(Just a shot in the dark)

It isn't going to be a $75 knife. I think once it's all said and done you'll have a hard time finding a folder made in the US that has similar materials and quality for the $75-90.

I think it will be a good competitor in its price range, whatever it may be.

Well......I have 3 folders that are made in the US, all proven to me to be excellent quality, and each cost me less than $75. Little company called Kershaw. I'm just sayin.

My guess is double what the izula costs, the msrp is $80, so the folder will probably list for $150-160ish, but youll probably be able to get it around $100-120.

I love my izula and carry it everyday. Even if I got an izula folder the fixed blade would still be around my neck.
