If so please post a pic. of there mark.
I purchase a hawk from a antique dealer who swears it's a 18 or 19 century trade axe.I have a feeling I've been dooped.Taking his word ,before I do anything I want to be sure.
His answer to me now is no more talk.If anyone can post the mark.
Thanks:confused:

Mine is just marked H & B thats it...
Tried to get a close up a little fuzzy

Thanks ,
I got dupped by a dealer in Philadelphia,MilitaryToys777.He sells on gunbrokers.Beware.

It seems like this is happening more often then people expect or know about. There are many honest sellers out there but unfortunately there are many unscrupulous sellers also.

It has come to my attention that, over the years, some of my reproduction hawks and knives have been offered as "antiques" by some sellers for hefty prices! It's unfortunate.

If anyone out there is offered a circa 1750 knife or hawk that is stamped "NR" (my touchmark) please take a closer look.

Actually this kind of fakery has been going on for at least a century and yes it IS getting worse. In another hundred years just imagine how old looking these new ones will look!

One good thing is the TATCA website on tomahawks has finally been removed --amateurs pretending to be experts usually make things worse and they did.

There is a good reference book called "How Do You Know It is Old" by Harold Peterson but hard to find. Bookfinder.com might locate it for you.

And of course I would recommend my own guide on ebay's website where you can at least get some information that you may not have known before. I would have written much more but I used up my 20,000 word allotment ebay allowed.

That's really a shame. I'm sorry to hear that someone did that to you. Our regular hawks are unstamped/unmarked but we'd be able to identify it no problem. We don't stamp them because the military doesn't want items that they carry marked although a lot of their items are. Our 250th Anniversary model is stamped with a RR and a number.
