I have to ask, as I have owned many Spydercos, what makes this production knife that has a blade under 4 inches long worth $325 dollars. I just don't get it. I have owned Spydercos valued at $400, but only because they were very rare and out of production.
I just do not get it. Yes it is sweet, but at this price I can buy a pretty nice knife that has a blade over 4 inches. Just my thoughts guys.
P. S. I hope to own a Protech Brend 1 someday.

In short, build quality. Price is rarely directly proportional to blade length.....if this had a 4.25" blade would you think the price was worth it?

I feel ya, Cursum. I'm slowly losing the battle of talking myself out of getting this one! First, it was the edge heel that bothered me, then it was the weight, then the general impracticality of the whole thing. I've more or less come to terms with these aspects now and that picture may have finally persuaded me, Spyderco Dude.

Knife weighs 6.5 ounces (knifecenter.com). I would assume it has stainless steel lock ?

As far as price goes I see it . You have the higher end materials ,the special blade coating etc. As well as the designers cuts and all that .

My one and only gripe is with that knife it should have a better steel than s30v . I mean it looks amazing and I'm sure it performs amazing . I wish it had a super steel though.

Yeah, it's expensive, but if you like it, get it now because it's only gonna be more expensive as time passes.
We'll see this same discussion in a couple of years when they're $500+ on Evil-bay!

I really like the design but it's way too expensive for my taste. It's too bad because the exact same design could have been brought out for about half the cost using less expensive materials like VG-10 for the blade and G-10 for the handle.

I gota say I love a good persian blade but with the price I would have liked to have seen a lighter knife

Just bought one last week and this one is a gorgeous knife. it's a production knife with custom feel to it and I can't wait to start snapping photos of it. the curves, feel & comfort are just perfect.

Spending this much $ on a Spyderco is unusual but not with this one.

One drawback I find is reaching the liner lock to close the knife, very difficult. They should've raised the lock section so that your thumb can press easily instead of having to dig in there with your finger. I always have to use two hands and I don't have fat fingers.

Also the heel of the edge isn't sharpened, and isn't practical to sharpen - so once you start cutting stuff with it, you can ruin that part of blade and get ugly there. So all in all, it's not a very practical knife.

but I don't care, as I don't plan to cut anything rough with it anyway, and I have 3 other user knives already. so this one is still a keeper and will last a long time on the bookshelf. Might EDC here & there but won't abuse it. Yes this is kinda like a Medford - EDC/pocket jewelry.

Also looking forward to another one to be released from Spyderco, Rassenti designed Nirvana - even more expensive than this one. Probably won't get it but we'll see how badly I want it. Will definitely head down to W&W and check it out tho.
