Recently, my brother spent some time in a temporary teaching position in Vermont. He met a maintenance man at the small college where he taught, and this guy, Nick Anger seems like a serious knifemaker. Pretty good at forging, I guess. Does anybody here have one of his knives?

His work seems really nice from what I've see on IG but no pricing ever mentioned.

I believe he is responsible (partly) for that hipster chick in brooklyn who sells ground down farrier rasps to other hipsters for exorbitant amounts of money.

This is what $800 can get you:

He has a website and I think that he has been "linked' not so much with Chelsea Miller, the lady who made that knife, but with Moriah Cowles of Orchard Steel , who was also was associated with Joel at Cut Brooklyn when she lived in NYC. Her work follows a more "standard' pattern for kitchen knives.

Millers website used to have an about section where she stated he was her mentor.

It's the only reason I know who he is because I had to seek out who would unleash her into the world only to find out he made really nice looking stuff.

My fear has been that his pricing is as out of whack as hers but I haven't had the heart to ask.

I've followed his Instagram, and BOY is he a knife-producing machine.

He's a poster boy for work ethic and promotion. However, I'm told that GETTING one of these knives isn't quite as easy as replying on his IG account.

He's got a very personal style and they all have a culinary flair to them. Great low count steel forging.

Assuming his heat treatment is up to the same standards as the rest of his work (and I have every reason to assume it is), I'd venture out there and say he's making some of the best kitchen knives in the custom world. He does amazing things with his Damascus patterns, and his designs are spot on. And Coop is right, the man produces like a machine. I don't know Nick personally, I've never handled one of his knives in person, and I have no idea what his pricing is like, but I love his work.

I have four of his knives and they are fantastic .... they get razor sharp and stay that way for quite some time

Okay. All three of them are from Vermont and both of the ladies were in Brooklyn for a while. Ms. Cowles is back in Burlington.

Nick's a good dude. He's also one of the most dedicated and hard-working knifemakers I've ever met. While some of us are chit-chatting on the forums :o or shooting youtube videos or designing spiffy websites, he's in the shop making knives. His entire marketing strategy is holding each finished knife in his hand for about 8 seconds while he takes a cell-phone pic and posts it up on Instagram. And then he goes back into the shop to make the next one.

Hey Nick, welcome, your knives are killer and you're also a class act! Folks here need to know this.

Been following Nick on IG for a while. I am amazed, not only at the volume of work he produces, but the volume of quality well designed work he produces.

Nick, welcome. You do great work. Very impressive.
