I need an old Army helmet from WW2 or Vietnam, that style of steel helmet, as a form for making a kabuto pattern.
Ill trade you for a foxy folly 17" with a slightly wavy blade...

Ive got some helmets like this one

there is one on the UK ebay site, currently listed at £5.70, postage to japan would be about £20 Linky

while waiting for the auction to complete, you can watch this Ninja Instruction Video:

(quicktime video, a bit slow on download, but worth the wait)

The Us helmet is the correct shape for the type of kabuto I am making. I like the british pattern helmet, but I dont really need it right now. That one on ebay would be great, but I dont do ebay anymore. If you want to snag it and trade, thats cool with me.

Seems like a lopsided trade, but I'll head to the Army surplus store near here and check it out for you. We've got two real good ones near here, and I like to go there on my lunch break quite often.

If that doesn't pan out, I've got at least a fiberglass liner handy (same shape and pattern) and I'm pretty sure I've a helmet or two kicking around. Let me know.

Didn't find any of the old metal ones. They had kevlar ones.

I'll start digging through my stuff. I'm pretty sure I have a steel one here somewhere. In the meantime, I know where the fiberglass liner is.

I'v got one of the one KamSingh has. US Army WW1 helmet. Don't have any WW2 or Vietnam though. I do have a Kevlar, but I am not allowed to sell it. :)

Dave that liner might be perfect, but Id better ask for the steel pot too, just in case.
Any news on finding it?

Krull has one too, so maybe we can work out a group plan here...

I promise Im not going to cut it up, if anybody is worried. Im going to lay paper over it to get the proper size patterns for making a samurai helmet. The old US helmet is almost a perfect copy of the Zunari kabuto style helmet. (just the bowl, not the skirt part, of course)

I can't find any steel ones. As for the fiberglass insert, it is the exact size and shape of a steel outer covering; if you weren't holding it in your hand, you wouldn't know that it wasn't steel. I don't have a suspension handy for it but it sounds like you don't need one.

I don't care if you cut it up or not. It's yours to keep if you want it. I was going to spraypaint it blue and take it out to the range to show my appreciation for the UN. :)

Sweet. What can I send you or pay you?
I still need the steel one so I gotta make a deal with two buddies, but Im excited to get the plastic one too.
(I may need both)
I know, Im going to make you a Samurai helmet Dave.
Im going to make one just for you, a special Satori helmet....
Whats your favorite color by the way?
