Anybody have experience with G Sakai knives?

Fine knives, G. Sakai did a lot of subcontracting for many of the American premium lines over the years. The steels used in the older Gerber contracted knives won't impress new collectors, but they were handled well and should be fine for daily use. The fit/finish is really good.

Their own line of knives is fantastic, but not imported as much due to high cost.

This I don't know, but the original name was Sakai Cut. It is very possible that they might of included the G as a tip of the hat to Gerber, as they had a a good relationship with Gerber, and Gerber was a iconic brand in Japan from the late 70's - early 90's.
