I bought a custom drop point hunter back around 1990 in Anchorage, AK. It has "Alaskan Maid - Hank Kubaiko" inscribed on the blade. Does anybody know if Hank is still making knives today? I couldn't find any reference to his work on this forum.

I believe Hank works in Ohio now. I have seen him display at Western Reserve Cutlery Association show(s) in Dover Ohio.

I will second that. Hank is working in Ohio these days. I have not talked to him since last year and do not have his current location.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

Posting a picture of the knife.......

I have a couple of knives that I got off of hank when he lived in Palmer. One he gave to me for clearing and cutting some trees on his lot. The other I absolutely had to have after seeing it. I really don't think he wanted to sell it but I made him an offer he couldn't refuse. It's honestly the coolest damn knife I'v ever owned and everyone I show it to is blown away. It's a 15 1/2" long bowie with an ivory handle trimmed in white brass, and you can shave with it!! I use to keep it under the seat in my truck and I felt safer with it than I did with my .357. I tried to insert an image but am unfamiliar with this method of uploadind images.

All that talk, I need to see a pic!

Upload the pic to any free hosting site (ie photobucket.com), copy the direct link, in the box where you type your reply you click on the picture of the mountain, copy the link into there and the picture will be part of your reply... It's past my bedtime so I hope that was clear! Now let's see the pic! ;)

In 1992 I had Hank make me a custom Canadian belt knife with a modified handle. He made the blade out of tool steel. Still have the knife and I use it often for skinning and butchering my game animals up here in Alaska. Buying another custom knife made by Hank that I found online, will post a few pics once I get some taken.

ChrisY sure is a nice drop point skinner you have there.

jeramierenner sure would enjoy seeing the ivory handled bowie you were telling us about.

I received the other Hank Kubaiko custom knife I was telling you all about. It is a real beauty, called an Alaskan Maid bowie; overall length is 17 inches, blade is hand forged damascus steel 11.5 inches in length. Nice hard wood handle with a brass S guard.
