Figure he's been too busy to post here lately, that could be good or bad. Major, if you're tracking, good luck and God speed to you and your Marines sir.

Sarge I'm pretty sure I saw Fog skulking around here just the other day. Couldn't say for sure and there's no way you can make me, not even by trying to bribe me with a Villager 12" AK. :p ;) :D

Coincidently, I thought of FOG yesterday, too. Hope all is well and the "gardening tools" are seeing good service. :)

Sarge,

I’ve been rather busy. Not much fun though. Personnel issues, looking at recommendations after OEF and OIF possible re-structuring for mission, deploying Marines and Sailors, etc.

I had been putting off getting my arm looked at as the rest of me healed up nice from about six months ago. Unfortunately the Ortho wants to basically fillet my right arm above an below the elbow to mechanically debride (sp) the tendons and ligaments then relieve the pressure on a major nerve. I’m obviously not that keen on the idea. Basically not supposed to type, lift, do calisthenics, ride the Night Train, etc. The Ortho even tried to get me to hold my Makers glass in my left hand and smoke the cigars with the right! She is so cute when she is trying to chew my 4th point of contact J.

Not getting much use out of the Khukris obviously. The rest of them are in good use with most deployed.

I sent Uncle some pictures from Cambodia JTF FA that are too big for his computer. The constraints on this machine won’t let me re-size. If you have the re-sizing capability I would appreciate it and I would send them from .mil to .mil.

Pappy,

The frogs arrived and are in at least 4 different theaters right now. I think the favored method was to die them black, then soak them in warm water, then tie/stretch them over the scabbards themselves to ensure tightness. Once dry water proof, mink oil, then some Kiwi.

All,

I finally received orders last Thursday, detach in November and report December to JRB Ft. Worth for I&I duty. I avoided the puzzle palace and having to bring in a new aircraft. Get to go back flying, only flown once since last November and that was the last typhoon, more planes than pilots so you want me to do what…

What I want you to do, Sir, is take care of yourself and your troops. All the rhetoric in the world doesn't change my/our concern for them.

Be well and safe.

I'm glad they are being used. That leather that Yvsa sent down here to TX was sure thick enough so, they should last for a quite a while.:)

FOG, send me those pics and I'll see what I can do with them. My .mil is; Gregory.Sikes@hood.army.mil

Sorry to hear about the troubles with the arm, sounds like it'd sure cramp a fellow's style. Fort Worth, you don't want to go to Fort Worth, all they got there is steers and ******. Ugly women, big old corn fed ugly twelve toed knuckle draggin' women. Just kidding, when you get there head straight for Billy Bob's, 2 1/2 acres under one roof, indoor bull riding, a dance floor the size of a carrier deck, and more pretty gals than you've ever seen anywhere.:D

Sarge,

I’ve flown out of Ft. Worth before and with the squadron I’m going to be attached to. After the last flight of the day they de-brief at the New Orleans Nights, good cheap steak dinners, beer, and ballet performances. J

I have vaguely heard of the Stock Yards, it must have been in a dream J

Pictures sent with a short explanation.

Holy cow sir, them are some big .jpegs:eek: I tried some shade tree science on 'em, let's see if this works.

Yup, by golly it works.:D How's this for GI ingenuity; I opened 'em up in my Windows Paint program, copied and pasted 'em to Power Point slides, saved the Power Point slides as .jpegs, then used Paint again to trim 'em down.;)

'Cause like FOG, I didn't (don't) have an imaging or photo editing program on my government computer that I could use to resize the pictures. Had to think outside the box and use what I had on hand, it's something I'm fairly adept at.;)

Sarge

You can, but these things were more than a thousand bits square, way too dadgum big for the forum's max size requirement. By pasting them to a powerpoint slide I was able to resize them there, save them as .jpegs again, and take 'em back to paint to trim off the borders.

Wait 'til the Major rolls in with his narrative, Pappy's gonna get a kick out of this one.

Malla? 16.5" WWII? Looks a bit short and skiny for an 18" AK, handle too long for a BAS or 16" AK (unless this guy has small hands?)

Sarge,

The pictures are from the down time doing JTF FA (looking for the remains from Vietnam era). They don’t like taking pictures and letting them get out while working on site. We still need pictures for historical purposes so these were added to the official series. The SSgt. used the Khukri extensively. It’s the one Pappy donated to a MGySgt. The MGySgt. decided it was too good to waste by retiring it with him so he made it a permanent part of the 1st MAW EOD team’s kit. It’s currently deployed to the P.I. working with guys in the funny green hats.

The SSgt. just had the duty of blowing in place a WWII 8” dual fused naval round in base housing over the weekend. The fuses had partially initiated so it was lots of fun. EOD Marines have a strange sense of humor but they're fun to hang around with especially when they're smutting.

Pretty good ingenuity on the pictures. My -6 Marines like to keep away from electronic stuff as much as possible as I'm somewhat hard on electronic stuff. I'm on my third issued cell phone and second computer.
