Anybody keep Alcohol Swabs in their PSK?

In the Diabetic supplies section of my local W-mart, there are boxes of these little alcohol swabs. They are about an inch and a half square, and are in a wrapper about the size of a condom. I got a box for my first aid kit, but I was also thinking about how great they would be in a PSK. I mean, a lot of people already keep bandaids and such. I think they would be a good thing to have in case of small cuts and scratches that might get septic. And a stack of four of five wouldn't take up much space in a survival pouch, or an Altoid's tin.

I just thought I'd run that up the flagpole.

I keep them in all of our kits. Be sure to check them every once in awhile, because they can dry out over time.

Yeah, good idea, I didn't think about that.

I never thought about that. Good idea. I normally carry a flask of old J.D. Can be use to help with the fire, cleaning cuts, and oh ya..... in the nightly coffee is good to:D

I have a few in all my kits, and always one in my wallet. They typically dry out in around 6 months.

You can use them to clean tweezers, needles, and knives, and they'll even burn for a short time

OUCH! They sure do burn. Do not try this at home. :o

I keep them in my pack. Just make sure you get the BD kind (Becton Dickinson). Many of the generics I tried were far inferior in quality (thin, and many were dry).

Yup i do put a few in my PSK and FAK. I use it to clean small wounds and to clean first aid equipments before using.
P.S: Brace yourself for the pain you are going to get if you are using it to clean a wound... Do not use it on children because they are going to scream in pain...

It builds character. :D

Really, the swabs are only 70% alcohol. I sometimes carry 99% alcohol with me (in my car's first aid kit). Now, that has a bite. :)

They have several uses and take almost no space at all. I keep some in all my kits, including my mini kit. There I have three alcohol swabs and one triple antibiotic foil. I also keep two alcohol swabs and four bandaids in the elastic pocket found in the sheath of my Leatherman Wave. Like I said, almost no space at all.

they make good fire starters in a pinch. one will burn for a minute or so, but not as long as a corn chip, i think. i'm not sure.
