I have heard about bead blast finishes on a knife, does anybody know the materials used and process for achieving this finish or have a link to different types of knife finishes ? Send me some information at sharks_edge@excite.com please.

Thank you,

Bead blasting gives a nice matte finish on metal. Glass beads of different sizes are used depending upon the finish desired. The process requires an air compressor, blast cabinet, beads and a blast gun. Some gun repair/refinish shops and metal shops can do this for you. If you have a blast cabinet and air compressor, the other materials cost about $150.

It's funny. I sharked a villager khuk. yesterday (brushed finish) and was thinking about bead blasting khuks this morning before I even saw your thread. I think a bead blasted khuk. would look pretty good.

It looks nice, I'm told it makes the blade rust more easily though.
Then again I've never had a problem with rust on my bead blasted blades. I've never had a 1095 bead blasted blade though.
