I got this oven from my buddies estate after his passing. It heats up,(takes a while) but the temp gauge doesn't work. Here is a couple pics. I need to find a temp gauge for it. Any ideas ? It appears to be a well made oven. Is it normal for these electric ovens to shut off and on even on the high setting? It took a while for it to get real hot. I pulled the rear cover and checked all the wiring , it all looks good. Might just be the way these things work. Thanks for any input.

Their still in business, have you contacted them? I'll bet theres oem parts that will fix it. Google can be your friend.

knarfeng is spot on. I've used Blue M industrial equipment at a previous job and they are top notch.

Yea it appears to be well made. I put a piece of metal in it and it got cherry red, but could not get the pyrometer to read more than 500 F Is it normal for these electric ovens to shut off and on even on the high setting? Depends on the oven and its capabilities. However, if the metal got cherry red, the temperature was significantly above 500F. My guess would be that the thermocouples require some maintenance.

I might try to pull them and look at them. Not sure what I would be looking for, but will look them over. Thank you

There is one thermocouple the ceramic is broke in 3 places but the wire is still intact, would that make the Pyrometer read low?

Outside my turf, but I don't think you can just look at the wires. The thermocouple consists of two wires made of different metals welded together at one end. The junction generates a voltage which varies with temperature. If the weld is cracked, it would affect the voltage. You might not be able to see the damage.

But you also need to worry about the meter that converts the voltage from the thermocouple into movement of the needle on the meter. I know even less about that sort of thing. I just know that they need to be calibrated and if they have not been stored properly they can go south.

Well knowing a little of how it was stored and handled to get it to me I am sure none was proper or good for it. I am surprised it even got hot. I figured all along it would just be a good candidate to turn into a gas forge. I am gonna spend a little and get a way to read the temps. Thank you for the input.

Can I just buy a portable temp reader with a long probe that will fit thru the 1/4" hole where the thermocouple came out and read my temps that way? Thanks for the help
