Anybody know what coating Al Mar uses?

Anybody know what type of black coating Al Mar uses on their blades?

I have a Sere 2000 with the black blade and the coating on it is VERY tough. It just seems to get shinier instead of scratching. It has surface scratches and a few that go through the coating, but not many. For the most part it just looks "burnished".

Anybody know what it is?

The plating used is Black Chrome. It is a fairly tough finish that is very commonly used on just about everything. It provides limited corrosion protection, but this can be overcome by undercoating with nickel or copper. I doubt that Al Mar does this because the blade is already VG-10 stainless steel.
