I'm looking for two knives to be used in a productin of West Side Story that have blades that retract into the handle when stuck into something (Riff and Bernardo, in this case). I'm not exactly sure what you'd call this type of knife, so I can't search for it on Ebay.
Does anyone know of a seller of drama knives?

Hi cdhostage,
Welcome to BF. Hope you enjoy this place and it's people at least as much as I do.

Let's move this over to the Knife Discussion Forum and see if we get any responses there.

Some of the makers that make "out the front" custom knives are Butch Vallotton, Ralph Dewey Harris Jeff Harkins and Robby Dalton.

Factory models are made by Microtech, Desert Knife Works and others.

The problem with these is that they work so they would not be good for a prop.

Try your local magic shop! Or a place that rents costumes and at home magicians/ clowns. These are essentially gag items.

Microtech has made such props for at least one televison show that I'm aware of. But, it's Microtech, so expect to pay.

The bad guy from High School High had a MT OTF.

Try Daytona Magic

Also google search for theatrical supply. I wish you had asked before I retired. I had a case of these from an old magic shop. BTW, don't pay over $5. The ones I had are made by the novelty company SS Adams. They had a silver plastic blade with black handle and looked very nice. The blade slid into the handle on impact via a spring. One of the BEST sellers for kids.
