Eyeballing this A-1008 model knife that's on the US Army website, anybody know who makes it for them? This one is 6mm thick with what they call full tang, 9" blade, would be a good chopper/machete, they have a couple other models to, Here's a link,...

That's not the U.S. Army website. That's a commercial site of a company out of NJ with a bunch of marketing hype/BS and none of their products are Army issue. They are NOT the U.S. Army. Don't be fooled.

The U.S. Army website is found at http://www.army.mil/

It's not an Ontario, even though the handle looks like it. It's made in China of 440 as most of the "officially licensed" armed forces knives are. Save up a little and get a real Ontario knife, you will be much better off.

Looks like "Master Cutlery" is a distributor but it has to have some credibility to endorse that they are Officially Licensed by the US Army, I would think that could get them in some trouble with the website set up like they have it if it's not legit.

I'm sure they're legitimately licensed, but the quality of the knives are likely very poor. A better option is this, the Ontario SP50. It looks pretty much the same, but worlds apart in terms of quality.

It looks like the knives are copies of some Ontario next gen knives which would be 5160. One or two older ones should be 1095. I say chinese rip offs attempting to market their knives as if they are some kind of official supplier.

That sort of thing isn't uncommon. Who would they be in trouble with and if they were what could be done to a company in mainland china?

Precisely. Give that man a cigar.

Really, could that site be more offensive?

Again, don't be fooled else you'll be exactly the type that company hopes to prey on with their marketing BS.

You have much to learn, grasshopper.

Your probably right their Mr. Miyagi, with the commy Chinese, it appears they can steal and knock off anything now-a-days and get a way with it.

That's what really blows about it. Let's say you picked this blade up, and it ended up failing on you in one way or another (blade breaks, edge retention is horrible, etc.). You might be soured on Ontario blades for the rest of your life because you think it's a legit knife.

Another good way to check is to make sure any product said to be USA Military issue is to get the National Stock Number (NSN). Everything issued has one, and they are easily referenced.

Ahh, good to know, I'll keep that in mind from now on, nothing cooler then real true mil issue weapons.
