Anybody like Murphy Blades?

I was able to find this original printing block for fairly short money, it isn't a Murphy Combat knife but its pretty cool. Maybe one day I'll find a Murphy Combat I can afford.

I'm not familiar with these blocks. Would that block have been used to stamp the name into the blade or for stamping the boxes that the knives came in?
