I just noticed this item at AuctionArms.com. Here is the description:

Breadth overall: 8.0m
Draught: 5.08m
Displacement: 2484t
Max speed: 16.5kts
Range: 2000nm
Complement: 60 persons

Main machinery: 3 x 37D diesels, 1470 kW each at 500 rpm, 1 main el. motor of type PG-102K, 1985 kW, 2 main el. motors of type PG-101K, 992 kW each

Figured I would be a thoughtful guy and pass the information along.

That would make a good lobster boat, I reckon -- no more messing around with traps, go right into the water after them! Buy it now is only $6,000,000. That's more than most lobster boats go for, but she has 10 torpedo tubes ... you could get a boatload of lobsters pretty quick with 10 torpedo tubes all firing at once....

Damn, I bought 2 last week for 11 million, and wouldn't you know it, 2 come up for 10 million. I always just miss out.

I saw a news show about six months ago where a drug cartel was actually trying to build a submarine to evade the Coast Guard. They had hired an out-of-work Soviet sub engineer, and they had got the thing half built when they were discovered.

Hey, here's a ready made one. And a few million to a trafficer is nothing. Here's hoping they deeply plant a surveilence device on the sub before the sale.

I know you guys know this already, but this is a JOKE!!
First off, that's nuke boat...
Second, it's an OLD BOOMER...
Those "torpedo tubes" have just a tad more range than 5 miles :(

Damn, I really wish I had an extra $10,000,000...I could REALLY use one of those subs...Living here on the Pacific coast, and all...(Man, I'll bet I could really pick up the hot chicks with one of those!).:D.:D.

You could get a bay full of lobster bisque ... :p

wait a sec guys, i think the canadian government is gonna be picking these up.... hmm wait, nevermind theyre too cheap, ah well, i guess were stuck with the big pos's that we have now.

THIS SELLER'S ACCOUNT HAS BEEN DISABLED.

LOL

Never mind that he couldn't get the description right... The class number is for a Russian diesel-powered Foxtrot, and the pics are of an American SSBN: http://www.navsource.org/archives/08/08641.htm And where did he find all those torpedo tubes? The American sub had 4 and the Russian sub had 6.

Now, as interesting as it would be to have a submarine, the American government would never allow anyone in North America to have one. Hell, they don't want anyone to have them... Can you imagine the **** that would go down if one of those nutty militias got ahold of one?

When I was 12 I got about half way thru designing a small submarine made out of a garbage can that I was going to take out in the Columbia River. If I had ever gotten very far with that, I probably would have drowned after floating half way to the ocean. And I can't say that I like submarines much anyhow, just something about being stuck underwater doesn't sit well with me. Perhaps someday I'll get around to building a small sailboat from those old plywood plans.
