Anybody making a quality "copy" of the Lile First Blood knife?

Hi guys. Coming out of lurk mode for this one.

If done quite a bit of digging with the search function about the Lile First Blood and Sly II knives.

I would like to get something similar (read: NOT UC) for my collection. (I am mostly a kitchen knife guy.) Are there any producers, big time or small time that make a similar knife?

By similar, I mean bowie style blade, and hollow cord wrapped handle. And well made.

I see Colin Cox makes something very close--I suppose I could get a model 8 and wrap the handle myself--what kind of cord is used, anyway?...And I wonder if he makes the model 9 with a shorter blade (I don't want a broad sword!).

Do any other makers around make a similar knife in the 300 dollar range? I'd like to know before I contact Colin.

And what's the deal with the "after death" lile knives? Any good?

Thanks-

Welcome to Bladeforums!

If you do get around to cord wrapping you shouldn't find it a problem. There are a few websites with clear instructions. Generally paracord works fine and you can even get it in different colors.

Cox is the fella I was gonna reccomend. The Lile post-passing knives(dot over Lile) are good knives, many of the same people(shop helpers, etc...) were still involved with them after Mr. Lile's passing.
They just don't move up in value as much as the knives built by Lile's own hand.

I'm not sure what type of cording Lile use onthe handle, it wasn't para-cord, which many makers use today.

how does one come across a post-passing lile knife? What do they run, price wise?

Also, if someone could point me to a website with cord wrapping instructions, that would be great...

If any board members make similar knives, I would entertain that idea as well.

Thanks all...

hi
im a bit of a movie knife collector, i recently sold my no dot sly 2 on ebay for $1.500,this is what you would normaly pay for a sly 2 or mission bowie!
dot - no dot versions are made exactly the same quality wise,i much prefer
jack crain survivals but they are even rarer unfortunatly! i have 3
hollow handle jack crain knives and they are awsome custom survival knives,
why not try and get a robert parrish/hollow handle they are a little easyer
to find these days than crain/lile survival knives :D

check this guys website out
rick mccracken,he knows all there is to know about first bloods, sly 2s,mission bowies!!!

If your not concerned about quality United Cutlery makes all the versions of Rambo knives, damn 420J2 steel though.

Hmmm...I might be able to entertain an offer for a post-mortum (dot) lile first blood or sly II--if the price is right. If someone knows where one is...

Maybe I should move this over to the "want to buy" forum...

Wow, that's pretty sweet!

I posted something in the WTB section re: me desire to pick up a lile. If no on bites, I'll probably go for a cox.

RJ Martin makes the hooligan. All of RJ's knives are wickedly sharp and of the best fit and finish. S30V as well.
