I'm brand new on here, first post, so I hope I'm not stumbling over a worn topic.

I just got a VDK Strix and am mesmerized by it. Got me wondering how new knife ideas get developed, and I figured CAD plays a role.

I went WAY deep into modeling a few years back, developing some slingshots and accessories, but now all those skills are collecting dust. If anybody could use some help bringing ideas to life in a CAD environment, I'd enjoy helping.

Just a heads up, but unless you buy a knifemaker/craftsman/service provider membership, you're not permitted to discuss pricing or offer sale-able services.
At any rate, welcome to the forum!

I will assume that the offer is for free. If he is offering to do it for pay, he needs to close this thread or ask me to do it.

BTW, I see a lot of CAD diagrams and designs done by people who don't do whatever the design is about. Nothing falls out or breaks on a computer screen, but in the real world gravity and physics apply. There are stones with nothing holding them in, things that would snap off with no force at all, etc.
The image of the jeweled dagger is an example.

I'm interested in learning about knife design development and offering to help with the CAD as a chance to get involved and learn how that process goes. I have no interest in money or other payment.

I'm a gemstone faceter and do know about faceting. The missing settings on the smaller stones were an omission for simplification, not an oversight; the whole ring was a design sketch and was modified for actual casting. The jewel on the dagger would be glued on with a frosted surface or possibly pegged in, if I ever wanted to make it for real, but that project was just for fun.

Here's a more technical, functioning build I did. A hopper for 3/8" slingshot ammo with a plunger that dropped one ball at a time. Lots of internal parts and threading.
