Anybody seen this folder? It is a Phat Bob folder BUT it uses black g10, phosphor bronze bushings, a thick liner lock and a D2 blade? Size etc. is the same as the Phat Bob folder. About 1000 made of this type. thanks for any fb/info on it. keepem sharp

I found the one you are talking about. Model #4083 they are # and micarta, not g10. There is one on that "auction" site for a $100.

Copied from their add.

This is a limited edition knife made exclusively for us to our specifications. There are only 1000 Individually numbered pieces of this knife. It is similar to the model 4082 offered by Ka-Bar, except it has a slimmer satin finish black micarta handle. Rather than the polished green micarta. It is also made of D-2 tool steel with a Rockwell Hardness of 59.

I just picked one up a couple days ago. Seems well made and did run about $100 but it is D2 and as I can't afford the real thing right now, it'll do.

Yep that's the one from the auction site. Gonna score one after Xmas. keepem sharp and thanks

Longbow, the liners, liner lock, and pocket clip are made of 420J2 stainless and you hear a heavy duty snap when openned fully. Compared to the CRKT Kit Carson that I was carrying, releasing the spring requires a little more effort to close but when open there is no movement whatsoever. The company's phone # is 405-863-3703 and they offer a full refund if not satisfied.
First thing I did this morning was remove the pocket clip [I hate those things] and it feels real comfortable to carry. It's slimmer than the CRKT, about as thick as my BM 14205 but out of the box, sharp as hell. My other pocket knives may be up for sale soon.

Are we talking about the D2 version being available on e-bay, or another auction site? I cannot locate the model # 4083, plenty of 4082's though.

Yeah, that's the one. Apparently that company is the only one who has them.

The Ka-Bar D-2 4083 design is an excellent choice for the money. I intended to use it as my hunting/skinning knife. I haven't had the opportunity to use it for that purpose yet but I still carry it a few times a week. It is very sharp and after carrying a little the micarta breaks in very nicely.

The blade is thick, almost large seebie thick. The knife has a fantastic feel and the liner lock is very durable as well. The thumbnailnpics from an earlier post are spot on. I will try to post exact blade thickness and other specs tomorrow.
