I'm having some bronze dagger parts (guard, pommel, spacers, sheath tip and throat) bead blasted at a local shop. I was planning to chemichally blacken them all, but since this shop does powder coating and is already doing a run of the right color (flat black) for another customer, they can easily fit me in for a reasonable fee, and I'll actually get a more consistent color than I was anticipating. Is there any downside to powder coat in knife applications? This is an art dagger and (hopefully) won't be getting much use, but what if it wasn't? Has anyone powder coated a guard on a hunter or edc that can give feedback? Interested in what y'all think.
