I bought this knife around 1988 at a cutlery shop, and fell in love with the ball lock system. They don't seem to sell these anymore. Both the black plastic handle and the blade have two cut-outs... one rectangular and one triangular, kind of a skeleton design, with the blade measuring about 3 inches. What was this knife called? What kind of steel is it? I'm assuming that the steel was low grade because it only cost 30 dollars or so (I think, it's been 21 years...)

i think its the tekna hidden edge, I bought a black one on ebay a year or so ago, I also have a tekna micro knife, and a tekna credit card knife..their fun to play with, i actually use the micro knife to open mail and the tekna hidden edge i keep in my martial arts equipment bag...
(( rules violation ))

good luck

Thank you Mar12duk for your response. Tekna hidden edge. Got it. I neglected to say that though I did buy one in 1988, I lost it. Actually, I had 3 of them, and lost them all. Went 20 years with out one and found one as part of a 3 knife set on Ebay last year. Wonder if we bought em from the same vendor... mine was brand new, though I understand that the company isn't producing them any more. Wonder what the story might be there. And while I'm at it, what is a "rules violation?" I'm new to this stuff.

Can't post ebay links or "deals" in general. You can allude to them. I think linking directly to a dealer like agrussell.com is fine, but I'm not sure. I've linked them before, as have others without problems.

my apologies on the rule violation :o....lets just say they seem to have them alot on ebay, thats where i got mine, it is odd though that the one i bought is brand new and they came out over 20 yrs ago...its like my tekna credit card knife, it actually says "tech edge" on the knife and not tekna, but its still pretty cool. There not made with the greatest steel in the world, but i was able to put a hair shaving edge on all three, my favorite is the micro knife, it would be bliss if someone re-did it using titanium, S30v, and carbon fiber...but i would probably have a better chance of doing 2 shows a night in vegas...lol ;)
