Hey all, I was just at Sam's club today and saw a "burl wood" humidor with built in hygrometer and capacity of 100 offered for ~$40. Anybody seen these, have one, have any thoughts about it's quality? It looked decent enough, but I do not have any experience with a decent humidor. Mine is a sealable plastic-ish kinda "bucket" that I have a little humidity thingie in. Not the best set-up in the world.... I'm thinking maybe the $40 might be a good (enough) gamble to take.
Your opinions????

Nothing wrong with a"Tupperdor"! I use them at home and at work. At home it's a larger one for bundles, etc. Could use a Coleman "coolerdor" too for those that need to age a while.

As long as the Sam's Club model has a Spanish cedar lining, it should do fine. You can probably see one like it here:

Nice wood humidors will naturally breath, requiring us to keep adding moisture to it to keep the humidity stabilized at what you want it at. The tupperdors don't breath, so just throw in a piece of spanish cedar and air it out every so often.

I bought one of those a few years ago,and find it to do exactly what I need for a very fair price. Mongo, does this humidor have the two rectangular humidifiers, and the hygrometer in between them? Does it have a lock? If so this is the same one I picked up.

BTW.how long have you been herfing cigars? What is your favorite cigar so far?

KC, It has one rectangular humidifier in the middle, dividing the bottom section into two. There is a tray that sits on top of this layer. The hygrometer is on the outside. It does have a lock too. I used to smoke more stogies earlier than now... now it only seems to be when I go fishing. I favor La Gloria Cubanas... Miami made being the best, but oh so rare to find. I like anything strong and flavorful. The BEST I ever had was an honest to goodness Cuban Cohiba. It about knocked me on my butt smoking that one! The second best was the Cuban Montecristo no.2 that I smoked on my wedding night.

Sound's like a decent humidor for the money,I would buy it if I were you. If you have not been here yet you might want to check out www.jrcigars.com Some good prices. La Glorias are a tasty brand,Have you ever heard of El Credito? These are second's of the La Gloria they might not be perfect, but they taste the same, and are much cheaper. I was able to enjoy a Monte #2 Torpedo in Ensenada back in 97,and to this day I have not smoked a finer cigar.
